˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Kat and Steve were inside Bradley's Big Buy buying food for Eddie while everyone else waited in the car.

They were in the cereal aisle, and Steve was studying each box very carefully as Kat pushed the cart behind him. So far, they had gotten cans of Pringles, chocolate milk, candy, and a six pack of beer. So, nothing with any nutritional value whatsoever.

Steve put a box of cereal in the cart and kept pace with Kat, but she was lost in thought.

She thought about what could potentially be happening in Hawkins. A dark wizard? She didn't want to believe it, but if those past years proved anything, it was that anything could happen.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Steve finally asked, putting his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Chrissy," Kat answered, letting out a breath of air. "What killed her? I mean, Eddie was pretty shaken up yesterday. It's either that he saw someone die in front of him, or he had murdered someone; which one of them it is, I don't know," she said, feeling like she couldn't stop talking. "It's entirely possible that he made the whole thing up, but then again, if he didn't and this Vecna guy is actually real, we're completely screwed because this is totally coming out of left field, Eleven's powers are gone, and even if they weren't, she's two thousand miles away, so we have no chance against any—"

"—Kat!" Steve shouted, trying to get her attention. She looked up at him and he touched her shoulder. "Everything is going to be fine," he said sincerely. A small smile grew on his face as he grabbed both her shoulders with his hands. "I promise you, everything will work out. Trust me."

Kat was frozen for a few seconds. She was trying to come up with a response, but for the life of her she could not focus on anything else except Steve's hands on her shoulders. The more she focused on them, the more her stomach started to do somersaults. Once she fully realized what she was thinking, she snapped herself out of it. "I know. I know," she muttered, continuing towards the cash registers.
