012 | Pinch
Rushing out of Japanese as quickly as she could, her teacher Ms. Mukoshi finishing her small goodbyes with the class, (Y/N) was grateful that the prying eyes of both Kana and Amar were off of her now that class was over. After walking in with Jian, he giving her a small pat on the head when parting, both bombarded her with questions on who he was and why he was acting so close to her.She ignored them, knowing that if she told them, they'd tell Jess, and then she'd know that it was the same person that insulted them. That would only end in someone beating someone else up. Breathing in deeply, trying to calm the frazzled emotions that she was feeling, she straightened her backpack and walked the remaining flight of stairs up to her Psychology class, a bit excited since it was her favorite class, and dreading it all the same when knowing Nicolai would also be there.
Well...
He hasn't bothered me so far since that one time... so, maybe he still won't bother me? Even after what happened this morning?
Ah, damn...
Pushing the door open, the first person she saw was her teacher, Mr. Ryder, a fairly attractive man that seemed to be a perfectly sculpted being, almost every single girl in that class alway swooning over him and whispering how they wished they were old enough to date him. Giving him a brief nod and smile, she walked toward the back as she usually did, taking a seat near the back and pulling out her textbooks. As she rooted through her bag trying to find her folder, a cough below her stole her attention away.
"Seems this is happening quite often," Nicolai began, his arms crossing over his chest as he stared down at her.
"And what is that?" She sighed, really not in the mood to listen to him.
"You stealing my seat," he continued, pulling the chair out from the desk in front of her and sitting down, turning so that his legs were on either side of the backing and his arms rested on the head, continuing to just look at her.
"Okay...?" She blinked at him, backing away when he only leaned closer, his smirk growing when noticing her discomfort.
"What's your name?"
She blinked again.
How does he not my name?
"Your name," he gave her a comforting smile, a seemingly complete one-eighty from his usual behavior.
What the...
"It's... (Y/N)..." she trailed off, alarm bells ringing in her head when he further shortened the distance between them, his amber eyes seeming to burn in the light of the sun.
"Pretty name..." he murmured, setting his elbows down on the surface of her desk, forcing her to look at him. "Now listen, (Y/N)... you fucking annoy me. What you and that little shit did this morning annoyed me. Try anything, and you won't like what will happen. Girl or not, I don't really care. It'd be easy to hurt you since you're so weak."
A million thoughts raced through her head at that moment.
What?
Is he serious?
I'm just trying to life, man.
These thoughts all simultaneously rushed through her mind, her expression one of puzzled disbelief as she kept her gaze connected with his.
"You understand, (Y/N)?" Nicolai continued, a sharp edge to his voice.
Just as she opened her mouth, a hand settled itself onto her shoulder and a light chuckle could soon be heard afterwards, the sound like velvet from how smooth it was. Glancing up to the owner, (Y/N) found the boy familiar, especially his dark blue hair, and was practically dumbfounded from how good-looking he was.
"I don't think it's necessary to be so rude to someone," he spoke to Nicolai, both his eyes closed while his lips stretched.
"And who are you?" Nicolai demanded, clear hostility lacing his voice.
"Valen Tommie," the other boy answered with a charming smile. "Nice to meet you."
Valen...
Valen Tommie...
Oh! Now I know where I've heard that name before! This was the guy that Jess took a liking to!
"Now, as I was saying, I overheard your little... conversation with (Y/N) here, and I best thought to step in since your behavior is absolutely appalling," he explained, all with a bright expression that looked as if he were talking to an old friend, something vastly different to Nicolai's expression which made him look ready to kill Valen right then and there. "Why don't you apologize, hm? After all, that'd be the natural conclusion after you insulted her so."
"Listen," Nicolai leaned forward, his brow twitching. "I don't need to listen to you, nor do I have to apologize since (Y/N) here is the one that wronged me. So, kindly fuck off."
"No," Valen's grip on (Y/N)'s shoulder tightened, now hovering protectively in front of her. "I don't have to listen to you, either."
She shifted uncomfortably.
Damn...
Can't they take this somewhere else... like not around me?
Just as Nicolai's fingers curled into fists, Mr. Ryder clapped his hands to signal the attention of the class before announcing, "Okay, everyone! Settle down! I would like for you to take out your textbooks and flip to chapter twenty-one."
"Tch," Nicolai grunted in annoyance, flipping Valen off before turning around and doing as the teacher asked.
"...Are you okay?" Valen then glanced down at (Y/N), amusement spreading over his expression when seeing she was already engrossed in her reading, too distracted to pay any notice to him. "Well then, please be more careful, (Y/N)."
"Huh?" She finally looked at him, flashing a brief smile. "Yeah, thank you."
His brows raises at her obvious lack of interest in him, but he merely shrugged and walked back to his desk, greeting the swarm of girls that crowded around him almost immediately with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, his eyes unwillingly lingering back towards the girl that he had just helped.
(Y/N)... huh?
So that's her name.
