What... is going on?

As soon as (Y/N) walked into third period, she knew something was going on, specifically because Valen, someone she had rarely spoken to before, called out very loudly and with a wave of his hand for her to come and sit down next to him.

Immediately all eyes turned toward her.

This is... not what I was expecting.

Carefully and hesitantly, she slowly moved toward Valen and sat down beside him, shooting him curious glances that he merely shrugged off. Before she could ask him what he wanted, the teacher walked in and clapped his hands to gain everyone's attention. As usual, the girls instantly clamored to quell their voices and rustling of clothing so they could focus on the handsome man.

"Good Morning, everyone," Eren greeted, leaning against the small table that stood at the bottom of the lecture hall-like classroom. "Today we are going to be discussing relationships. Different kinds, different themes that come up, etc, so, please turn to page 187."

Flipping to the assigned page, (Y/N) could feel Valen staring at her from time to time, her comfort levels seemingly non-existent by the time the class ended.

They barely even spoke.

"Valen," she called out to him before he could pack up and leave, deadpanning at the brilliant smile he flashed her way when she did. "Do you have a second? I need to ask you something."

"Sure."

"Is there... something you need from me? I know we don't know each other that well, but..." she trailed off, shifting her backpack straps, not really sure what to say further, merely hoping that he understood her rather cryptic way of wanting to know why he was suddenly acting so close to her.

"Ah..." his eyes lit up with understanding, however his smile widening. "I'm surprised you don't remember what happened this weekend. Though... I guess I was wearing a mask."

She was confused at first, but everything soon clicked into place.

He chuckled from her reaction: she had widened eyes and a slackened jaw. However, he quickly made sure to shush her before she could say anything. While he was fine with revealing that little bit of information to her, someone he viewed as not likely to spread the secret, he wasn't at all okay with letting other people know.

"You're... Valentine?" She asked in a whisper, awe only growing when he nodded. "That... actually makes so much sense."

"It does?" He raised a brow, a bit surprised from her words.

"Yeah! Even when talking with your persona, I thought you looked familiar, and now I know why. And because my friends told me that sometimes you're just not at school," she shrugged, adjusting her backpack and watching as some of the other students streamed past them—some even with clear envy in their gaze. "But, anyways, that's really cool. Though... why tell me?"

"I like you," he smiled. "You're kind, especially after what you did for Kana."

"Well... she's just a major fan of your work, and— wait!" She cut herself off, mentally slapping herself for blanking. "How did it go? Your one-on-one meeting with Kana, I mean?"

"I thought it went well," he mused. "She asked for my autograph once, but then asked for a lot of pictures."

"Oh... was it annoying?"

"Not at all," Valen waved the comment off, finding himself quite relaxed as he talked to the girl—something so unusual when regarding the opposite sex. "Though... it would have been nicer if I could have talked to you, instead."

A little bit surprised at the offhand comment, she ignored his words and said, "Does Kana know that you're Valentine? Like... did you take off your mask because she didn't seem much different..."

"Actually, I didn't."

"Huh?" She was taken aback. "No... that's right... it probably was too much to ask..."

"No, I've shown my face to fans before," he shrugged with that same carefree smile, not at all fazed that she had disregarded what he had said earlier. "But... that time I just didn't want to. If anything, I was hoping that you would have asked to see my face, but you didn't."

"And that's why you're telling me this now?"

"Naturally."

(Y/N) couldn't tell if he was joking or being completely serious, but if she took in his mannerisms and speech, she knew he was in the latter category. While normally she wouldn't be put off since most famous people that hid their face wanted to keep it hidden from as many people as possible, especially if you'd see said person everyday like in Valen's and Kana's case, it was how he presented it that made her wary.

He didn't want for Kana to know... but he wanted me to instead?

We hardly know each other...

So why?

"Well, then... I'll be sure not to mention your true identity to Kana," she smiled awkwardly, her embarrassment only growing when realizing the teacher had been glancing at them for quite some time, wondering why they hadn't left yet for their next class. "A-Anyways, I'll talk to you later, Valen. Bye!"

With that, she disappeared through the door, not once looking back. Valen stood there gazing after her for only a moment before he too exited the room, the corners of his lips tilted upward ever so slightly. It wasn't that he was expecting any obvious reacting from (Y/N) considering their last interaction before the concert.

She barely knew him.

Barely registered his existence.

In all honesty, it pissed him off that she, someone so below him, would think so little of him.

To reveal his double-life to her wasn't at all what he was planning to do, but something inside him made him do it anyway, just to see her reaction. His hopes were up, but he wasn't expecting anything, and when she seemed so complacent with the fact of who he was, it only made his resolve that much more serious.

She'll see me.

Not now, but eventually... she will.
