(Y/N) walked with Amar down the hallway toward the cafeteria, their footsteps drowned out by the chattering that continued to swell with every beat as students poured out of their classrooms and got ready for lunch. However, her mind was anywhere but as the pocket where she stashed Silvius' number seemed to burn.

How?

How?

...How!?

What in the world made him want to suddenly give me his number?

Her cheeks flushed with heat as she remembered the way he looked at her—the way he smiled. It was such a sudden shift that the interaction was still replaying in her memory over and over again not even ten minutes after it happened.

It baffled her.

But since he's good-looking, I guess it makes sense 'cause I'm kinda a norm. As in: I-don't-get-a-lot-of-hot-guys-numbers norm.

It's sad.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?" Amar raised an eyebrow at her odd attitude—a bit annoyed even since he had been talking to her and she hadn't been listening. "Is it that Silvius guy you were talking to? What was up with that, anyway? You guys seemed awfully close..."

"What, are you jealous?" She teased, knowing that his protective, brotherly side was starting to show. "Or is this just you being overprotective?"

"Obviously," he frowned. "What if he turns out to be a dickwad?"

"I can handle a dickwad."

"I know, it's just..." he trailed off, slightly unsure of what he was even trying to say. "I just don't want you to get hurt, you know? I hate it whenever you're sad, and I... I just don't want that."

Smiling, for once ever since Chemistry her mind not on Silvius, she adjusted her backpack and books to one side so she could nudge Amar with her shoulder, peering up at him with a knowing look as she said, "Amar, you don't need to worry about that. Right now, it would be nice to have a relationship, but me and Silvius... it's probably not going to happen. Stay rest assured, brother."

"Well... if you say so," he hummed, seeming to be a bit too pleased with that.

As the pair finally walked into the cafeteria and went through the line for their food, they then exited the school to the courtyard and to their usual spot. Kana and Jess already there, allowing them to settle in quickly. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before a small disaster struck: that disaster coming in the form of a beautiful girl with strawberry-blond hair that fell in long tresses down to her lower back that highlighted pale skin and striking blue eyes. What off-set this was the cruel and arrogant smirk that played on her lips as she stared down at them.

"Well, well, well," she snickered, the three girls behind her shifting as they too laughed down at the group. "Look who it is? My old flame and his group of fucking rejects."

"The hell!?" Kama stood up. "If anyone's the reject, it's you, Roselle-fricken-Blanc. I mean... wasn't it Amar who broke up with you?"

Roselle's eyes narrowed at the jab, the two girls facing each other with Kana being the taller one. But instead of them, (Y/N)'s attention was on Amar, his expression obviously telling anyone that he was uncomfortable with the situation, his history with his ex-girlfriend not the best and not the kind to want to bring up just randomly.

"Guys, let's just go," Jess sighed, however her hands twitching and her jaw tightening in anger.

"Yeah," Roselle scoffed, flicking her eyes away from Kana and toward her nails. "You should. Just the sight you all makes me nauseous. Since you're so revolting, you should just stay away."

"Fuck you," Jess flipped her off.

"Make that double fuck you," (Y/N) added, using both of her hands to shoot Roselle the middle finger.

"Whatever," she flicked a lock of her hair behind her shoulder.

Packing up and leaving the spot under the tree, the small group's spirits were thoroughly diminished as they strove to find another place to eat far away from Roselle and her cruel followers. As Jess and Kana tried to cheer Amar up, (Y/N) excused herself to use the bathroom real quick before meeting up on the roof where they finally chose to eat. Washing and drying her hands after using the toilet, her shoes tapping lightly against the linoleum floor and her skirt swaying with every movement, she breathed a bit heavily as she walked the long staircase up toward the roof. Prying open the door, she was a bit surprised not to see her friends there, glancing around only to find one lone figure crouched down with a cigarette to his lips.

"What the shit?" Nicolai sighed, his eyes closing as he took a long drag from his cigarette. "I thought I told you to—" When his amber gaze connected with (Y/N)'s, he cut himself off, sneering, "Oh?"

"Oh," (Y/N) repeated, narrowing her eyes into a piercing glare as she stared at him. "It's you."

"It's me?" He laughed at her words as he pushed himself up from the sitting position that he was in, then leaning against the edge of the building with his cigarette held in between two fingers. "Isn't that a little rude to say when greeting your classmate?"

"Says the one who threatened me just because of a seat," she shook her head. "And, Nicolai, it wasn't even your seat to begin with."

"Fuck you."

"Ugh," she groaned as he only smirked at her annoyance. "Anyway, my friends came by earlier. Do you happen to know where they went?"

"Why would I know that?"

"I didn't think you would, I just thought I should ask," she mentioned as she turned to leave, only stopping when he cleared his throat to gain her attention once more.

"Hey," he called, his voice holding a warning tone. "Don't forget what I told you."

"Hah..." she frowned. "I won't."

"Good," he smirked.

Turning, she walked away from him.
