Walking into school on Monday, (Y/N) was consumed with guilt, tightening her grip on her backpack's straps as she slowly walked up the steps to the school, not noticing the way other students flowed around her in a hurry. All that weekend, she had avoided Jess' texts and calls, even Kana's in fear that they knew. Amar had tried speaking with her on both days, but she couldn't even bear to look at him. They would hate me.
And all because of that stupid guy!
Why did I ever let myself think that he would be a good match for Jess!?
And now...
And now this could hurt her!
Such thoughts flowed in and out of her mind ever since Valen's concert, having run off the stage and out of the venue after his little stunt. When she made it to the car, out of breath and wishing to hide, she had to wait in the chill of the night for Jess who was the one who had the keys. It took only a minute or two, but Jess did eventually leave as well, bombarding (Y/N) with questions about what that whole stunt was all about. She only replied that she didn't want to talk about it, and they drove to her house in silence.
But now what?
Will she ask me about that again?Paranoia clear as day could be seen creeping within her, and it only worsened when spotting Valen and Jess themselves loitering in the hallway, the former quickly catching sight of her and sending her a secretive smile. She only felt worse when he leaned in and kissed Jess, his eyes on her the entire time though. With that, she took off in the opposite direction.
What the hell is wrong with him!?
Storming down the hallway, she entered her first period classroom and sat down with an irritated huff, her eyebrows creasing as her worries only continued to pile up.
Seriously?
What the hell is wrong with him!?
To me... he did that... and while he was with Jess... I can't believe the nerve he has!
"Woah," Jian exclaimed as he walked in and sat down next to her, immediately noticing her uncomfortable and aggravated expression. "What's got you looking like you're about to murder someone?"
"I hope it's you," Nicolai trudged in right behind Jian, shoving him aside as he too sat down.
"Always quick for insults, I see."
"Drop dead."
"Anyways..." Jian rolled his eyes as he turned back to (Y/N). "...what's wrong?"
"Nothing..." she slumped even farther down in her seat since she didn't want to involve them in her drama—more so, she just didn't want to spill about how she had basically cheated on her friend with her boyfriend. "Just... girl problems..."
"Like with a friend?"
"Yeah..."
"Maybe I can help?" Jian offered, flashing her a smile that she barely returned.
"Thanks, but... I don't know if you can help me with this one..." she shook her head rather pessimistically. "I screwed up majorly..."
Through the first half of the day, (Y/N) was tortured by having to see Jess laughing so happily with Valen while he always seemed to pick her out in the crowd. He tried to sit beside her in Psychology, but luckily, some of the girls that didn't care that he had a girlfriend swarmed him and was able to capture his attention so that the teacher had some extra time to arrive and start class. When lunch rolled around, she grabbed her food and made a quick escape to the roof.
It was too much for her to bear.
Unfortunately, she didn't have much of an appetite, only eating just a little before pushing the tray away and curling herself up into a ball. With her arms resting on her knees, she buried her head in the space and tried to tune out the voices in her head that haunted her.
Jess will most likely not find out.
But still...
It's the fact that Valen is stringing her along that's making me irritated.
He doesn't care about her.
He never has.
What confuses me all the more is why he's torturing me about this.
It doesn't make sense.
I want to tell her... but she'd just lash out at me like last time, and since Valen made himself look completely different, she wouldn't believe me.
Lost in her own thoughts, (Y/N) didn't hear the creak of the door open until the one that entered onto the roof slid down the wall to sit next to her. Silvius didn't say anything when seeing her look so depressed, merely placing a hand on her shoulder in some sense of comfort. He had never had to comfort someone before, so he wasn't sure what he should have done, or if there was anything that he could do.
"Aren't you going to ask me what's wrong?" (Y/N) glanced up at him with a bitter laugh.
"No," he inclined his head toward her, his citrine gaze holding no emotion, something that made her smile just a bit. "But, if you want to tell me what happened, I am fine with listening."
"Well, that's a roundabout way to ask," she chuckled, not fazed in the slightest at his answer.
"Sorry."
"You're fine..." she shook her head before averting her eyes back to the edge of the building, the silence between them increasing until she broke it once more. "But, can I ask you something?"
"Yes."
"Why does it feel so sucky to be betrayed by someone you thought was a friend?"
His eyes widened at the question, knowing the feeling that she was speaking about all too well. Of course, the person he had in mind was someone he regarded as anything but a friend, having her pictures posted all over his walls for one thing being a major clue.
"No... he wasn't a friend... but someone I thought that I could trust," she leaned her head on his shoulder, finding that she was comfortable with doing that with him.
"For what?" Silvius questioned, not bothered by her sudden closeness in the slightest.
"I put my trust in him that he'd take care of my friend," she muttered. "And he didn't."
"...honestly, I don't really know what to say to help comfort you, or give you any helpful advice," he spoke truthfully, even looking a bit awkward which was out of the norm for him who usually wore no expression. "But... what I can tell you is that even though this person is untrustworthy, you aren't. And... you're always going to be there for that friend of yours, right?"
His lips tilted upward while meeting (Y/N)'s eyes, and she swore she could feel her heart pounding.
"Right..."
