Let's go right!

I mean, it's right, right?

Running down the hall, (Y/N) looked left and right at the dark windows in hopes that one of them was cracked open. And when feeling a cold breeze rush inside after she past one of the windows, she abruptly stopped and turned. There, every so slightly it was basically invisible to the eye, was a small crack that was missed. Almost breaking down in relief, she wiggled her fingers underneath the sill and yanked upward a few times, the window sealed quite tightly after years of not being opened regularly.

Fuck, yeah!

Grinning at her luck, she opened a space just wide enough for her to slide through and drop to the cement below, deeply breathing in the fresh air and soaking in that moment, knowing it couldn't last.

I need to go to the police.

I need...

I need...

Her thoughts scrambled, she just ran in the direction of the police station, pulling up '911' and hoping the call would go through since she couldn't do it before in the school. Every parent, student, and teacher she had seen that night were hiding in classrooms or loitering near doors trying to kick it down—unaware of her running through the halls in escape of four mental boys, one even having tried to kill her—and she knew that she had to help them.

She then stumbled, falling to the ground with a grunt, scraping her knee.

Hissing under her breath, she scowled when feeling something dig into her skin from her pocket, the look only fading when pulling out her car keys. Ignoring the throbbing of her hands and knees, she limped toward the student parking lot and almost cried in happiness when seeing her car still parked, waiting for her. Clambering into the passenger seat and slamming the door behind her—locking them as well—she started her car and pulled out, about to drive when someone slammed their hands down on the hood, effectively startling her.

It was Jian.

His black hair was even messier than usual, his clothes stained with blood that she didn't know if it was his or others, and a broad grin on his lips. But what was most prominent in that moment was the deep gash over his right eyes that forced it shut, how gruesome the wound was illuminated by the headlights of the car.

"Where the fuck do you think you're going, (Y/N)!?" He screamed, his hands sliding off the hood and leaving bloodied streaks behind as he rounded the vehicle to the driver's side, banging on the window. "You think you'll be safe out there!? I'm the only one that can fucking protect you from those other fuckers! Open the damn door right now!"

Trembling at what he was saying, finding everything about him so different now, she screamed when the glass started to crack, shifting the car in drive and trying peel out of the parking lot.

Unfortunately, Jian still had an ace up his sleeve.

Quite literally, since he pulled out a knife that had been hidden somewhere in his jacket to quickly slash through her back tire, watching as (Y/N) spun out of control and crashed info a nearby pole. With the hood crumpled around the pole and her back tire flat, all she could do was spring out of the car and run down the road.

Jian only followed her.

It wasn't long before he caught up to her, pinning her to the ground.

"How could you try and leave me!?" He screamed as he began to beat her, watching as she choked and begged for him to stop, but not relenting. "How the fuck could you do that to me!?"

Finally, when she was no longer conscious and no longer pleading with him, he pulled away.

Blood dripped from his fists, both (Y/N)'s and his own, as he stared down at her broken figure. Eyes narrowing, knowing that as soon as she awoke she would be trying to run away again, he then picked her up and carried her to the Orval family car, now his car since both Nicolai and Zian were dead, he being the only one left to inherit everything since Zian himself included it in his will. Placing her in carefully, he slid in too and demanded the man in front to drive. Pulling out his phone, he dialed someone's number and waited for them to pick up.

"Find me a bat," he ordered when they did. "A metallic one, preferably."

"(Y/N), please eat your soup," Jian sighed as he tried to spoon feed the girl said food, exhaling softly when she only turned her head away. "You'll never regain your strength if you don't eat."

"Get away from me," she snapped, slapping the spoon away and making it clatter to the floor.

"Why do you keep making messes?" He sighed again as he bent down to pick up the utensil and wipe the floor with a napkin, handing both items to a nearby servant to take them away. "If I wasn't here helping you clean up, who knows what kind of house this would be?"

Turning over in the silk bed she was in, she faced the windows letting in the sunlight.

The sun.

Her eyes mellowed.

She missed the sun.

"(Y/N), can you at least look at me?" Jian set a hand on her shoulder while sitting down, the bed dipping with his weight and making her shift uncomfortably.

She didn't.

"I know what would make you feel better!" He suddenly perked up as he put the bowl down on the adjacent nightstand. "How about a walk? You've always been so enthusiastic when I let you outside! So how about it? Want to do that today?"

I miss the sun.

Turning over and sitting up, (Y/N) allowed him to help her into her wheelchair, her legs having gone limp and unfeeling long ago.

"All set," Jian smiled warmly at her. "Seriously, what would you do without me?"

"Seriously, what would you do without me?"
