(Y/N) sighed heavily as she met with Amar in their usual spot under the tree, the space feeling emptier than usual since Kana wasn't there still and Jess was nowhere to be found. As soon as she sat down, Amar immediately scooted closer to her with a smile, his eyes however shifting around warily and with a warning present in his dark gaze.

"So..." he began after assessing the area. "What happened that made you look like you're ready to sleep for a whole week?"

"Life."

"I get that."

She stared at the ground for a moment as the light mood slowly shifted back into something more serious, Amar gazing at her with clear question in his stare that made her want to spill everything.

"What is it, (Y/N)?" He tilted his head. "Please, I'm... worried about you."

She still didn't speak.

She didn't even know where she would start.

For one thing, she wanted to come clean to him about what happened with Jess and Valen, but would he even believe her? If she couldn't be sure, she didn't want to take such a risk. For another thing, the whole issue surrounding Nicolai, his father, and Jian bothered her wholly since she had never known her parents, and yet here was someone that absolutely loathed his. She didn't want to pry into his business since it wouldn't be her place to begin with, but she was troubled.

Then there was Kana.

(Y/N) missed Kana so much, and she knew how much she was hurting. Roselle targeted her the most, not Kana, since she blamed her for tearing her and Amar apart. The only reason she had grabbed Kana was because she was there, and because she had been the one to show Mr. Orval that video. All of what happened was eating away at (Y/N), no matter how much she tried to push it down.

She still had nightmares.

She just took pills to keep them at bay.

She still saw Roselle around every corner and in every dark shadow.

She just made sure she was always in a crowd.

Everywhere she went, it seemed like something was haunting her, and no matter what she did to try and suppress those haunts, they still came roaring back to life in ways that she couldn't handle. Just as (Y/N) was about to confess everything to Amar, her gaze caught on Jess who was speeding towards them quite quickly, her expression twisted into anger and another emotion that wasn't discernible. But as soon as Jess reached her, as soon as her arm was pulled back, and as soon as her hand struck her cheek, (Y/N) realized that that emotion was betrayal.

"How could you!?" Jess cried out to her, trying to reach her even as Amar jumped up and put distance between them. "How could you do this to me!?"

(Y/N) placed her hand to her cheek, shocked.

This is it.

It happened.

This is what I feared would happen if I told Jess... but it's probably ten times worse since the information came from someone other than me.

And I let it.

I was too afraid for myself to say anything.

I was too afraid that she would no longer want to be my friend because of a guy.

"Jess! Calm down!" Amar tried to reason with her as he grabbed both of her shoulders that were shaking with each shuddering breath she took, tears now falling from her eyes that streaked her mascara. "What happened!? Why the hell did you slap (Y/N)!? Seriously, calm down!"

She was angry, he could tell.

Humiliated.

Betrayed.

Heartbroken.

But even as he felt guilt and sympathy for Jess, he couldn't help but also feel a type of resentment coarse through him when she slapped (Y/N). As his eyes sharpened into a deadly glare, those that were watching the situation wondered if the person he was talking to really was his friend.

"He was my boyfriend, (Y/N)!" Jess continued to yell, garnering most everyone's attention, the lawn soon swept with low murmurs. "My boyfriend!"

"Your boyfriend... Valen?" Amar could feel his grip weaken. "Why would you...?"

Realization dawned on him.

Whirling around, not caring that he made Jess stumble after releasing the pressure he had put on her when pushing her back, he faced (Y/N) who was just staring at him. He searched her expression in hopes that she would tell him that he was wrong, that what he was thinking was improbable, but she could only give him a guilt-ridden smile.

His heart plummeted.

"You know, Jess..." (Y/N) started, her gaze on the swaying grass below. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you what actually happened. If I tried to explain myself, it would only seem like excuses to you."

"What's your point!?" She snapped back.

"My point?" She shrugged with that same sad smile. "There is none."

"If that's the case, how the fuck do you explain this!?" Jess exclaimed as she stomped toward (Y/N) and shoved her phone into her face, showing pictures proving that Valen was Valentine, the video of him kissing her on stage, and then another photo of the two cuddling on the roof. "How the fuck can you worm your way out of this mess, (Y/N)!?"

"I-It can't be true..." Amar continued to shake his head in denial to the whole situation.

(Y/N) could only stare at the evidence that Jess was showing her in shock, knowing that the last photo was the moment when she thought it was just her and Valen on the roof. However, it was the perplexing text message that was sent with the photos that made her pause:

Isn't this interesting?

"Well?" Jess scoffed as she then shoved her phone back into her pocket. "You gonna say anything?"

"...no," she shook her head.

Jess scowled at her before she walked away, her gaze sliding over the crowd of people drawn in to see what the commotion was, knowing that in a few minutes, word of what Valen and (Y/N) had done to her would spread all throughout the school.

She scoffed, stalking away.
