Ugh!Just thinking about Nicolai makes me want to punch something.
Preferably him.
(Y/N) pulled out her phone after walking the stairs down from the roof and pulled up Amar's contact information. Pressing the call button, she waited for him to pick up while listening to the sharp trill of the dial tone, tapping her finger against the device rather impatiently. Finally, it went through.
"(Y/N)?" He voiced, a bit confused from her call.
"Yeah, hey, where are you?"
"We're in the history classroom. Where are you?"
"I just got down from the roof."
"...that means that you ran into Nicolai... didn't you?" He sighed over the phone, unknown to her running a hand through his hair. "Sorry... I know you hate that dude, I should have called you earlier about that."
"It's fine. I'll be there soon," she assured before hanging up, almost jumping out of her skin when someone cleared their throat right next to her ear. "Shit! Who—"
Jian smiled down at her as she turned to look at him, his hands in the pockets of the uniform's pants however the one thing different about his being how his shirt was halfway untucked, his blazer was missing, and he accentuated with a chain necklace an two rings—one on his left pointer finger and one on his right ring finger. However what was most startling about his appearance was the ugly bruise forming on his jaw.
"What... happened to you?" (Y/N) furrowed her brows, not surprised at that point since she was very used to seeing him look beaten up.
"Oh? This?" He gestured to the mark, seemingly unfazed by it. "Just a little gift from an admirer of mine."
"Admirer?"
"Yes, since, apparently, it's not wise to tell a girl who says she loves you that you don't love her."
"Gross," she wrinkled her nose at the boy in obvious distaste. "How cliche can you get? But, you deserved it with your asshole issues."
"Really?" He smirked, swiping a thumb over the spot and wincing from the action. "Well, I don't blame you for thinking that. Anyways..." He glanced down at her as he followed her when trying to walk out of the conversation, continuing, "So, what're you doing now?"
"Stop following me."
"We just happen to be going in the same direction."
Frowning at his lame excuse, however not finding it worth it to complain, she continued to ignore him as they walked down the hallway—he of course ignoring her hinting that she wanted to be left alone—and tried to restrain herself from just socking him in the stomach. No matter how easy-going and relaxed he acted, she didn't forget the fact that he had insulted her friends, and she wasn't just about to let him off the hook for it either. She loathed when people insulted her, even more so if they insulted her friends.
And he did both.
Of course, he also did happen to be someone who could easily hurt her if he really wanted to, and because of that, she decided to play it safe and take the ignoring route. At least with that she'd only be minimally pissing him off.
Now that I think about it...
I wonder if Jess could take him in a fight?
After all, she is athletically gifted and has been studying self-defense from a very young age, so maybe she could take him on...
Mainly I ask because...
Glancing up to see if Jian was still there out of the corner of her eye and confirming that he was, she could only sigh and wonder if he was going to continue with her all the way toward the History classroom, already knowing that if Jess saw him she would be picking a fight since she didn't let go of grudges as easily.
...she'd fight anyone for her friends.
"Hey," she spoke after a small bout of silence had settled between them, not looking at him in that moment yet being very aware of his presence. "Why were you at the cemetery that day? You didn't look like you were there for anyone, but... you did say the weather was perfect for visiting the dead."
"Hah?" He glared down at her, his form tensing and the lines in his forehead creasing as a wave of astonishment and bafflement washed over him at the question. "Where the hell did that bullshit come from?"
"Well... you always seem to be covered in bruises and blood. It was like that on that day as well."
"So?"
"I was just wondering."
"You were just wondering... huh?" Jian's brow twitched, his fingers flexing as they curled and uncurled into fists. "Well... if you have to know... I was visiting my little sister."
"You had a little sister?"
"Yeah... her name was Mei."
"It's sounds like you care for her quite a bit," (Y/N) murmured, her gaze pinned to the ground. "So... why is it that you act like this?"
He stopped at that.
"Do you like to agitate others because it amuses you? Or is it because of her?" She stopped as well so that she was looking him squarely on the eye. "You provoked that girl today, and you also did the same with Nicolai. To be honest, I wasn't even going to bring this up, but honestly, I feel as if I don't, nothing will really happen."
"Really?" He grit his teeth, the muscles in his jaw contorting.
"Yeah," she narrowed her eyes. "When you fight someone, provoke someone, or engage in anything like that, it should be for others' benefit."
Just like Jess does.
"Anyways, I'm not up for a heart to heart with you, so I need to go," she sighed as she turned down another hallway towards where Takeshi's classroom was, her backpack slinging behind her. "See you later, or whatever."
With her back facing him, she missed the way Jian's expression somewhat loosened.
He then let out a disbelieving scoff.
The nerve of that girl...
It's funny.
