Just as was promised, (Y/N) worked on her English project a bit more with Jian and Nicolai that next morning. The only thing notable about such an even was that Nicolai was much more quiet and moodier than normal, reacting in ways that were very unlike himself. She found this strange, but then remembered her conversation with Jian regarding Nicolai and his father's relationship the day prior.

They most likely fought.

Or was he reprimanded?

I'm not sure, but I can't help but be curious.

Shrugging her shoulders and deciding not to dwell too much on it, she got back to work and by the time the period was over, had completed two more slides. Second period came and went—during that time, Jian was much more forward in trying to converse with her ever since their conversation yesterday even if she was around her friends. Then, it was time for third period. When she rounded the corner to where the designated classroom was, she almost toppled over trying to hide when spotting Valen and Jess in front of the classroom door.

Not really wanting to interrupt whatever conversation they were having, (Y/N) merely stayed out of ear shot whilst leaning against one of the walls, crossing her arms over her chest as she did so. Tilting her head, she pondered over what they could be talking about, or even about how their relationship was progressing.

I hope Valen is treating Jess good...

I would really hate to see her hurt, especially since I wouldn't be able to do anything in that situation.

Hopefully he doesn't mess this up.

Waiting a bit longer since she wanted to give the two privacy, luckily no one else passing by as they were probably all conversing with friends or loitering around their lockers to collect their textbooks during the passing period, she finally walked around the corner when Jess parted from Valen to leave for her own respective class.

"It seems that you and Jess are doing good," (Y/N) smiled as she sat down behind him.

"Hm?" Valen glanced up at her before a small smirk settled onto his lips. "Well, I would hope so. I'm investing quite a lot of time into this relationship so she'll like me."

(Y/N)'s whole expression lit up at his words, and as Valen gave her a charming smile, he found it adorable how she didn't even seem to notice his dark intentions swimming just beyond his cold blue eyes. It was true he was spending a lot of time with Jess, but said time was meaningless to him—in hindsight, all he was using Jess for was as an excuse to get (Y/N) to talk to him. Since she seemed to pay no mind to him, in attention or otherwise, he decided he would just force it from her.

Valen's train of thoughts were then interrupted when a hand slammed itself down onto the table next to (Y/N), promptly startling both of them. However, it was no surprise to either of them when spotting Nicolai standing there.

"What now?" She frowned, her expression twitching with heightened irritation.

Ugh.

It's like his bitchiness increased tenfold.

"Nothing, now move," he commanded.

"Hah!" She gave a dry laugh. "No."

Scowling, Nicolai practically shoved (Y/N) aside as he sat down beside her, one of his legs splayed out in the aisle because he was so close to the edge. Disgruntled, (Y/N) gave him a sharp elbow to the chest, and while he shot her glare, he didn't give her a snarky comment as she assumed he would. He had a reason for this—a viable reason, in his opinion, as well. Propping up his head with his hand, the lower half of his face cupped by his fingers, he glanced at her from the corner of his eyes.

Jian feels something for her.

I don't really care what, but it's obvious he's interested her in one way or another.

Now... I can observe her interactions with Valen.

Jian was an existence that was a stain to Nicolai, more so than (Y/N) ever could be because she had no connection to him whatsoever besides school. With Jian it was different, as Nicolai would likely have to see him every day until he graduated and perhaps even longer. Just the thought revolted him, but there was nothing he could do about. However, he did want to make Jian hurt, and what better way than through a girl he was interested in? A girl whom also seemed to have obtained the interest of Valen, as well?

It was almost too perfect.

Nicolai hid the grin that threatened to show just from imagining Jian in pain, and he couldn't help but get a kick out of it. More so, especially since he would be using (Y/N), someone he equally was irritated by, to do so.

But...

My fucking old man won't stay out of my business if I keep skipping classes.

More so if I won't stop fighting.

I just need to lay low for a little bit.

A faint whisper next to him then drew him from his rather dark thoughts, once more sliding his gaze to the side to see Valen whispering to (Y/N) quite intimately, something she didn't seem to notice considering how hard she was trying to keep her eyes on the teacher. From the expression on her face, Nicolai could tell she was close to laughing, but kept her lips zipped shut. His eyes followed Valen's movements, how he seemed to lean in to (Y/N) and how his eyes practically drank in the sight of her.

He scowled at the sight.

Just as he was about to turn away since he was wholly disinterested in the act, he met Valen's eyes when he looked up from (Y/N). His warm gaze when looking at (Y/N) had all but vanished as he stared at Nicolai with a chilling edge to his eyes—it was as if he was warning him to stay away. Unnerved, Nicolai turned back to the front, but one look from Valen alone wouldn't stop the plans he wanted to enact.

Far from it.

With that, his smile returned.
