Choosing to go left, (Y/N) started running down the hallway and gasped when she immediately heard loud footsteps behind her. With fear pumping strength to her muscles, she sped up and turned a corner before diving into a nearby classroom and closing the door quietly.

Who is it?

Valen?

Silvius?

...Amar?

Her last guess was wishful thinking, knowing that Amar would have called out to her so she wouldn't have to be scared if he suddenly appeared behind her. Trying not to let the fear show on her expression, she carefully backed away into the shadows so that no longer she could see the small window of the door that let in subtle amounts of light. Crawling under a table that had a sheet hung haphazardly onto it, she placed a hand over her mouth to quiet her breathing, and waited. Eventually, the footsteps she heard turned the corner too, their owner faltering when not seeing her anymore.

But that didn't stop them from looking.

(Y/N) kept flinching each time a door slammed shut and another was open, steady screeches of furniture and objects either being moved or thrown like an annoying drill in her ear.

Then they reached her room.

She prayed that whoever it was outside would not find her, would not kill her.

Then the door opened.

As the person walked into the classroom slowly, a steady drip, drip, drip sound following them that stained the floor a dark red, they let out a rather husky laugh that chilled her to her bones.

"Where are you, (Y/N)?"

She froze.

It's Nicolai.

"I know you're in here," Nicolai announced as he grabbed a chair and aggressively threw it across the room, the wood splintering and falling to the floor in a dull thunk. "Stop fucking hiding from me or I'll just come and drag you out myself!"

Curling tighter into herself when Nicolai only continued to break the furniture and upend desks while smashing glasses and scattering papers, (Y/N) tried to make herself as small as possible in the slit of darkness that she was in when he kept drawing closer and closer to her.

"Come here, (Y/N)!" He yelled, breathing heavily as his amber eyes scoured the room. "I'm not gonna fucking hurt you! Just come here!"

Finally, he threw a glass bottle at one of the walls and watched as the glass rained down, most of the shards' descent muffled by something. His eyes narrowed in suspicion, he moved in to investigate and what he saw made him grin. Because there, with glass shards all over her, was (Y/N), curled up against the wall and trying to blend into the shadows.

It didn't work.

"Hello, (Y/N)—it seems I've won our game of hide-and-seek," he smirked.

He was about to grab her arm and pull her out when he instead instantly jerked his own arm back, his palm sliced open from one of the glass shards that now leaked crimson. Looking up again, he saw that (Y/N) had jumped up from her hiding spot and was now almost halfway out the door, the sheer desperation that flashed across his expression upon sight of her trying to leave him one of hurt and betrayal. But those emotions were nothing compared to the blinding want and neediness that he had for her, springing upward and closing the gap between them.

Raising his fist, he brought it down hard on her head and watched as she crumpled to the ground.

She didn't awaken until hours later.

Fuck...

Cracking open her eyes, her eyesight bleary but soon adjusting to the dim lighting, (Y/N) inhaled sharply in fear when seeing that she was in a small and dreary room that looked just like the own Roselle had kept her and Kana in, her mind going blank as she relived everything from those days. Screaming out in rage and horror, yanking at the chains on her wrists and ankles, she tried to escape, but she couldn't.

Nicolai had learned.

"HOW COULD YOU!?" She screamed at no one, tears rolling down her cheeks. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME, YOU FUCKER!?"

"I didn't do anything," Nicolai replied stoically as he walked through the door holding a tray of handsomely prepared food, just the aroma making her mouth water since she had no idea the last time that she had eaten. "This was all you. Making me love you... all of it... was you."

Her appetite was then soured by the reality of the situation that she was in.

"Unchain me," she spat through gritted teeth, her fists tightening and making the skin on her knuckles grow taut. "Unchain me right now, you bastard!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that," he shook his head.

"And why the fuck not?"

"You really don't understand the situation that you're in, do you?" He mumbled as he stared at her, setting the tray of food down on the floor before walking over to her chair and stopping right in front of her, his hand reaching up to caress her face. "You really don't understand..."

She jerked her head away, but he forced her to remain still as he combed through her hair. His hands were steady, his face emotionless, but in his eyes, all (Y/N) saw was a sick infatuation that made nothing but make her feel sick to her stomach. She had thought that maybe she and Nicolai could get along ever since he helped her get away from Mr. Orval and his probing questions, ever since he had stopped insulting her, ever since he had started seeing her as a person more so than a nuisance.

But those hopes were shattered.

Shattered by a twisted kind of love she could not return.

"Please..." she whispered, her lips trembling as he continued to strike and caress her face. "Please just let me go."

"I will never let you go," Nicolai straightened when realizing that she was still not conforming to her new reality. "You're mine now, and what is mine has to stay put. And besides... even if you try to escape, you won't get very far."

His eyes wandered down to her legs.

(Y/N) followed his gaze.

A scream ripped from her throat when seeing nothing but two bloody stumps.

With a smile, Nicolai then left.
