"I really don't like this," Amar whispered to (Y/N) that night at the dinner table, his eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the Art teacher, Mr. Möller, who was also Shreya's boyfriend, speak with the woman considering she had invited him to dinner. "I mean... I really don't like this."

"You knew he was coming over..." she whispered back, her brows furrowed.

"That didn't mean I was prepared..."

It was common knowledge that while (Y/n) liked Mr. Möller as Shreya's boyfriend, Amar did not like his mother with a teacher of his.

And he made it very obvious.

Normally, (Y/N) would have been trying to calm the flames of Amar's anger down since she didn't want Mr. Möller, her favorite teacher, to feel uncomfortable, but tonight she was distracted. Propping her head up with her hand, the other using her fork to twirl around the pasta in front of her aimlessly, she couldn't stop thinking about the way Silvius had looked at her just hours earlier. The face that he made, one filled with only desire and desperation as he spilt his feelings for her, and then the one of shock and horror at what he just did.

Then she thought of Nicolai.

He had said something quite similar to her the other day, and she wasn't sure if she had seen him since.

Everything was too confusing.

Letting out a soft groan, she continued to eat her pasta and stave off Amar's jabs toward Mr. Möller until it was time for him to leave and eventually both of the teenagers to go to bed. Crawling into her bed and staring at the ceiling, (Y/N) could feel her entire expression shift as everything from that day—from Valen declaring her as his girlfriend or to Jess now despising her—came crashing down on her shoulders in a heavy weight.

Looks like I wont be getting any sleep tonight...

Sitting up and grabbing a pillow and a spare blanket, she cautiously tiptoed to where Amar's room was and knocked on the door. waiting patiently until he opening the door, surprisingly still wide awake.

"Hey, what's up, (Y/N)?" He asked with a smile, chuckling lightly when noticing her bed head.

"I was wondering if we could have a sleepover?" She questioned sheepishly as she held up her blanket and pillow, not realizing how adorable Amar found her in that moment. "Remember when we used to do it all the time when we were little? I think it'll be fun... and I kinda don't want to be alone right now."

"I don't know..." he rubbed the back of his neck, wanting to be conscious of the situation while wanting to say 'yes' all the same.

"Please...?" She blinked up at him with a pleading smile.

With that, his resolve to say 'no' crumbled, and he found himself stepping back and opening the door wider so she could enter, startled when she enveloped him in a tight hug before she stepped inside. He was stupefied, standing there in a daze for a moment before coughing awkwardly and closing the door, watching her out of the corner of his eye as he sat back down at his desk where he had been working on homework.

"So..." he began as he dimmed his desk light. "Why do you suddenly want to have a sleepover?"

"'Cause I missed you?" (Y/N) phrased more as a question rather than an answer, something he raised an eyebrow to and eventually made her let out a sigh as she drew her knees to her chest. "Actually... I just couldn't sleep."

"Why? Something bothering you?"

"Yeah..."

"Was it because of what Valen said?" Amar questioned, feeling his brow twitch as he did so, having always known that there was something off about the guy. "I knew it. What he said about the two of you dating was a lie, wasn't it? Along with how he apparently already broke up with Jess before he asked you out, right?"

"Yeah, that and... something else."

"'Something else?'"

(Y/N) wanted to tell Amar about how strange Nicolai and Silvius had been acting, suddenly declaring their possession over her and everything else, but something stopped her from doing so right away, and she wondered why. From what she had seen in TV shows and books, always telling someone about a possible danger would be more advantageous in case something happened to her, but it could also bring harm to those she told.

So she couldn't take that risk.

"...Kana still not being at school bothers me," she responded, watching as Amar immediately shifted in his seat in unease.

It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the truth, either.

"It bothers you, too, though, right?" She continued to press, not seeming to notice his discomfort with the subject. "I can't believe Roselle would do something like that to us... and we were always separated when she took us out of the room. Just what did she do for Kana to still have to take time off school. It's been a couple of months now, hasn't it?"

"She just needs time," Amar grit out, his fists tightening.

He didn't understand.

He also didn't know where it began.

From the time that he and (Y/N) had been little, maybe. Somewhere deep down inside him, Amar knew that all he wanted was to have (Y/N) by his side. Jess and Kana he didn't entirely mind, but all the more, he couldn't hide the loathing he felt brim up within him whenever they so much as stole just a moment of her attention from him.

Yet, he smiled.

A smile to use as a coverup to hid the sin underneath. The ugly, twisted, disastrous sin that no matter how hard he tried to leave behind, he couldn't, wanting nothing more than to act on his desires.

"Anyways..." he coughed as he turned away from (Y/N), his dark eyes lowering to the wooden surface of his desk whilst letting out a breath through his nostrils in hopes of calming himself down, tightening his fists once more to stop them from shaking and revealing his true emotions. "You should get to sleep, okay? I'll follow you, I just need to finish this assignment up real quick."

"Okay," (Y/N) yawned as she laid down in the little fortress she had made on the floor with blankets and pillows. "Thanks, Amar. You're the best brother ever. Goodnight... love you..."

Falling asleep, she missed the look he gave her.

A look of absolute longing.

"I love you, too..."
