014 | Prick
Since it was Friday, it was hard to get to sleep that night, (Y/N) tossing and turning as excitement thrummed through her veins at the prospect of being able to hang out with her friends—at her first concert especially!I wonder what it will be like?
I heard that the dome we'll be in is huge, so it'll be much louder than one would think.
Shifting in her bed so that her back was to the mattress and her gaze was staring blankly up at the ceiling, she couldn't suppress the smile that continued to grow across her lips, thoughts filling her mind on possible scenarios and fantasies, some even being filled with Kana and Amar maybe becoming closer.
Hah!
Like that'll happen.
Her mind then unfortunately threw her back to the conversation she had with Silvius, and her smile disappeared.
Hm...
Well, as much as I want to take his advice, that's Amar's and Kana's business, and I don't want to push them together if they don't even like each other as they say.
But...
He's never been really good with expressing his feelings like that, so...
Glancing to the clock on her nightstand, the blazing red numbers making her squint to try and block out some of the harsh light, she saw that it was only a little after midnight, sliding the covers off her frame and sneakily walking down the hall to Amar's room. Opening the door just a crack, she saw that he too was sleeping, scrunching her features into a pout but still moving forward to wake him.
"Amar," she whispered, poking his arm, watching as he groaned and turned over, she only poking him again and again. "Amar."
"Wha—?" He rolled over, blearily opening his eyes to let them focus, finally able to make (Y/N)'s form out in the darkness. "...(Y/N)? What are you doing in here? It's the middle of the night."
"I couldn't sleep," she answered, he sitting up and rubbing his eyes as she did so. "And I need to ask you something."
"What?"
"Do you... do you really not like Kana?"
"Huh?" He gave her a strange look, his eyebrow raised and his dark hues reflecting the bewilderment he felt at the odd question.
"Do you?"
"As in, I don't like her in the romantic sense?" He questioned.
"Yeah."
"Of course I don't," he scoffed.
Rolling his eyes, then finally noticed he hadn't put a shirt on, his face flushing with heat as he hastily climbed out of bed to pull one on, thanking whoever was up above that he had decided to sleep with sweatpants that night. Sitting on the edge of his bed with (Y/N), he cleared his throat, feeling somewhat awkward now, especially with her looking at him almost disappointed.
What could he say though?
He had absolutely no feelings for Kana.
And he had reasons for that.
Reasons he couldn't fully disclose to (Y/N) at the moment—at least, not yet.
"Anyways," Amar cleared his throat. "Why are you suddenly asking about that?"
"Well, I was talking to someone today..."
"About me and Kana!?"
"No! Shh! Keep your voice down!" She tried to shush the boy, also slightly lying to him in the process. "I didn't say your guys' names specifically, but yes, I told him of what I thought of the situation."
"I'm not really liking how you phrased that."
"Deal with it."
His brow twitched at that.
"Anyways... something he said really got me thinking—about how it would hurt more to wait instead of confessing and how you'd suffer the consequences from that," she started again. "This isn't for Kana anymore since I hear you loud and clear about your decision, but for you. I know you're kinda closed off with your emotions, so just remember what I said about taking that chance."
Amar stared at her, and for a moment, she swore she could see something strange glimmering in his dark gaze, but it was gone as quickly as it had appeared.
"Um... anyways, as your friend—no, more as your sister—I want you to be happy," (Y/N) continued with a small smile, brushing off whatever it was that she had seen as a trick of the darkness.
At least, I hope that's what it was.
"Thanks, (Y/N)," Amar returned her smile, his expression soft as her gazed at her with clear affection—affection she knew which was deeply rooted in his very being. "I promise you don't have to worry about me. I'll be fine." He then ruffled her hair, his hand seeming to linger before he promptly shoved her off his bed, saying, "Now, enough. I want to go to sleep, and you should too. I did not sign up for this lovey-girly talk in the middle of the night."
"Oh, whatever!" (Y/N) dusted herself as she stood up, placing her hands her hands on her hips. "We both know you love talking to me."
"Get out!" He threw a pillow at her, shaking his head at her whispered chucklings.
When she was finally gone, he let out a ragged sigh as he ran his hands through his hair. (Y/N), meanwhile, finally closed the door to her room, her back resting against the frame and her smile soon changing into a frown. It wasn't that she didn't believe Amar's words, she just couldn't shake away Silvius' expression when he spoke to her.
The pure sadness.
The anger.
The longing.
Exhaling softly, she slipped back underneath her covers and once more gazed up at the ceiling, the reason for talking to Amar being to quiet her mind not at all having the desired effects; still being quite awake with her mind in a turmoil.
Maybe...
Just maybe...
The corners of her lips twitched as she smiled, snuggling deeper into her covers.
Maybe I can be friends with him...
