VIOLET AND LOTTIE FOLLOWED Natalie through the cabin, each on edge as they awaited whatever sight they would be greeted with outside.

They had no clue what had happened out there, what made them come back. All they had were Natalie's words. And by the few the Scatorccio girl had used to keep them up to speed, it didn't exactly sound like they had returned to give good news.

Upon exiting the cabin, Violet allowed her gaze to travel around the group.

Misty was sat on the porch, rapid breaths escaping her throat as Jackie and Shauna tried to comfort her.

Mari was a few feet away, alongside Akilah. The two girls had fallen to their knees on the dirt, each of them downing the cups of water Javi and Travis brought over.

"Oh my god." Lottie looked around at them all with wide eyes. "What happened?"

Violet hurried down the steps of the porch, her eyes darting around the area in search of two other people. And the moment she realised they weren't there, her brewing worry hit an all time high.

Van and Taissa hadn't come back.

"Where are Van and Tai?" Violet turned to Mari and Akilah, desperation clear as day behind her tone.

She waited a few moments for a response, but it never came. The two girls were frozen, locked into a state of sheer panic. So, with that, Violet turned her attention over to Misty.

The Crawford girl made her way over to Misty, crouching down next to Jackie.

"Misty, what happened?" Shauna tried to ask as calmly as possible.

"We got attacked... wolves..." Misty managed to get out between breaths. "They... they got to Van..."

Violet's eyes widened. A certain question bured her throat. She hated the fact it was a question she was even considering. But she had to ask. She had to know. "Are they... alive?"
