YET ANOTHER MORNING in the wilderness had arrived. And after the events of the previous night, it seemed that none of the group were satisfied enough with their rest.
The sounds of soft snores mixed with a twinge of quiet conversation buzzed around the room, filling the silence that lingered. Any free space on the floor was covered, decorated with scrunched up blankets and the many sleeping bodies of the group.
Violet lay with her head on Lottie's lap, her chest rising and falling peacefully as she succumbed to the feeling of Lottie's fingers running through her hair. And in turn, the Matthews girl had her back comfortably resting against the wall, looking down at Violet with a small smile.
Truth be told, she hadn't managed to get much sleep after they headed into the cabin for the night. Lottie could practically feel the surges of troubled thoughts that kept Violet awake for hours on end.
It was clear that Violet was still plagued by what occurred the night before. The reality of what she found herself capable of had been prodding and poking at her brain as if just to torment her.
Lottie had wanted to talk about it more that night. She wanted to listen, to understand, Violet's feelings about it all now that she had gotten over her own frustrations.
But at this moment in time, it seemed Violet didn't have much grasp on it herself. And now that she had finally managed to drift off, Lottie wouldn't dare to wake her.
Just as she wouldn't let anybody else either, quick to give anyone she deemed too loud a death stare.
Which meant that any questions Lottie had would have to wait. For now.
Surprisingly, the next person who recieved said death stare was none other than Laura Lee. Lottie's disapproving gaze quickly planted on the girl as she stood in front of the group and addressed them all, causing Violet to stir awake slightly.
