VIOLET WAS GENTLY PULLED from her deep sleeping state, the feeling of someone softly tapping her shoulder grabbing her attention. Her eyes opened slowly, face scrunching tightly as she let out a groggy groan in discomfort the moment the sun hit her face.
"Hi." Lottie greeted as she looked down at the Crawford girl, her tone tender and quiet.
Violet managed to draw a lazy smile before attempting to reply. Although just as her lips parted, any words that were to be spoken were cut off by a sudden cough. The girl covered her mouth as she endured the coughing fit, swallowing thickly at the distasteful feeling of her dry throat.
"Are you okay?" Lottie shuffled closer and placed her hand on Violet's back. "Do you need anything?"
"A couple gallons of water would be nice." Violet quipped. "Maybe the whole lake, actually."
"I don't know about gallons, or the lake," A slight amused smile toyed Lottie's lips. "But how about I get you a cup when we go back to the cabin?"
"I guess that'll have to do." Violet joked. "How about you? Is everything—"

Upon her right arm lay a gash, decorated with dried crimson stains around the area. It wasn't deep. But by the sheer perfection of the cut, it was clear it wasn't exactly done with any lightness either. It was quick. Clean.
"What the fu— How did this happen?" Violet paused, trailing her hand along the damaged skin. Her head whipped back to Lottie, although as she noticed the lack of shock adoring the girl's features, her brows stitched together in confusion. "Lot?"
