The weekend sun filtered through the windows of Heights Alliance as the class bustled with activity. The festival preparations were in full swing, and the entire atmosphere hummed with excitement. But I couldn’t focus entirely on the rehearsals. My thoughts were elsewhere, drifting between Aizawa-Sensei, Eri, and the festival.
As we rehearsed, a familiar figure walked into the room. I turned, and my heart skipped a beat. Aizawa-Sensei stood there, looking as calm as ever, but behind him was Eri, her small figure gripping Mirio’s hand tightly. Midoriya, Ochaco, and Tsuyu rushed over, and I couldn’t help but smile as I saw how their faces lit up upon seeing her.
Aizawa cleared his throat. “Nezu has given permission for Eri to attend the School Festival,” he said, his voice steady but soft. “We’re giving her a tour today so she can get familiar with the place.”
Mirio grinned and waved to all of us. “You guys are working hard! We’ll leave you to it, but Midoriya, Mailin—want to come with us?”
Eri’s wide eyes turned to me, a hopeful glint in them. It felt like my heart melted a little. She wanted me to come. How could I possibly say no to that?
I nodded quickly. “Of course. I’d love to.”
Aizawa’s gaze met mine for a moment, his expression unreadable, but I thought I caught the faintest hint of approval.
Together, the five of us began our tour of U.A. Eri clung to Mirio and looked around with quiet curiosity. Midoriya, of course, explained everything in detail, always eager to share his knowledge. As we passed other students working on their projects, Eri’s wonder only grew.
We stopped by Class 1-B, where they were preparing for a fantasy play. “This is going to be amazing,” Mirio said, leaning down to Eri. “You’ll love it, trust me.”
Her eyes sparkled with interest, and for the first time, I saw something in her expression—something I hadn’t seen before. Excitement.
In the Development Studio, we met Mei Hatsume, who was—unsurprisingly—deep in her own world, creating some sort of oversized combat suit. Eri watched her intently as Mei ranted about her inventions and the festival.
“She’s incredible,” Midoriya said, scratching his head, his eyes wide with admiration. “I don’t know how she does it.”
As we continued the tour, Mirio and Midoriya asked Eri what she thought. She tilted her head slightly, her small voice barely above a whisper. “Everyone’s doing their best… I want to see how it turns out.”
That sentence alone made my heart swell. She was beginning to come out of her shell, and it was beautiful to witness.
We made our way to the Lunch Rush cafeteria for a break, and it was there that we ran into Nezu and Midnight. Nezu was his usual eccentric self, enthusiastic about the upcoming festival. Meanwhile, Midnight explained that there had been concerns about security with all the recent villain activity, but Nezu had managed to reassure the authorities.
Before heading back to his class, Midoriya leaned down to Eri. “Class 1-A is doing a dance party with live music,” he said with a smile. “I promise you’ll have a great time.”
Eri smiled shyly but nodded. It was the smallest of gestures, but it felt like a victory.

Aizawa’s POV
Watching Mailin and Eri together was… different. Mailin, who I’d watched grow as a hero, was suddenly someone Eri seemed to gravitate towards. There was a softness in her, a kindness that Eri needed. A part of me knew that she wasn’t just a student anymore—not to Eri, and not to me.
Mirio and Midoriya were good with Eri, there was no question about it. They had this energy that lifted her spirits, even though she was still working through her trauma. But Mailin? She had a quiet strength. It wasn’t about cheering Eri up; it was about being there for her, showing her that she wasn’t alone.
I hadn’t realized until now just how much Mailin had become a part of this. She wasn’t just my student. She was someone I could trust with Eri.
The festival would be good for Eri, I decided. She needed to see that the world wasn’t just filled with villains and fear. And Mailin—she’d be there to guide her, to be her anchor.
As I watched them together, a thought crossed my mind. Maybe it wasn’t just Eri who needed Mailin. Maybe… I did too.

Mailin’s POV
A week passed, and the festival preparations were in full swing. The excitement was contagious. Mina came over to me during rehearsal, a grin on her face. “Guess what? You’re dancing for Midoriya!”
“Wait, what?” I blinked in confusion.
She explained the whole situation—Midoriya was going to help with the staging by maneuvering Yuga Aoyama’s Quirk from the rafters, which meant someone had to take his place on the dance team. That someone was apparently me.
I laughed. “Well, I guess it’s my turn to shine then.”
Mina winked. “You’ll be great! I can’t wait to see your moves.”
I couldn’t help but feel a mixture of excitement and nerves. Dancing in front of everyone was one thing, but knowing Aizawa-Sensei would be watching… well, that was a whole other level of pressure.
But I wasn’t doing this for me. I was doing it for Eri. For Aizawa. For the people who believed in me.
