Mailin’s POV:
As we check into the hotel, my heart is still buzzing from the excitement of the day, but underneath it all, there’s this constant flutter of nervousness. It’s not just the I-Expo that’s got me on edge. It’s... everything else. The whole trip feels like it’s balancing between professional and personal, especially now that I know it’s just me and Aizawa here—together.
I can’t help but glance at him as we wait for the receptionist to hand over our key. He’s as composed as always, calm and collected. Meanwhile, I’m trying not to let my racing thoughts get the best of me.
Then the receptionist hesitates, her smile faltering.
“There’s been a slight mix-up with your room reservation,” she says gently. “It seems we’ve accidentally booked a room with only one bed.”
One bed. My heart leaps into my throat.
I steal a quick glance at Aizawa. Of course, his face remains unreadable, while mine feels like it’s on fire. This tension between us has been building for a while, but now... now we’re supposed to share a room? With one bed?
“There must be another room available,” Aizawa says, his voice steady as ever. I don’t know how he’s managing to stay so composed, but inside, I’m spiraling.
The receptionist taps away at the keyboard before shaking her head apologetically. “I’m afraid the hotel is fully booked due to the I-Expo. I can offer some extra blankets and pillows for the couch, if that helps.”
I glance at the couch in the corner of the lobby—it’s tiny, barely big enough for anyone, let alone someone as tall as Aizawa.
“It’s just for one night,” he says, his eyes flicking briefly to mine. “You can take the bed. I’ll take the couch.”
I want to protest, to tell him he doesn’t have to do that, but the words are stuck in my throat. Sharing a bed with him? No way. But the thought of him sleeping on that uncomfortable couch… It’s equally unimaginable.
He takes the key from the receptionist and grabs our bags. The walk to the elevator is quiet, but the air between us feels heavier than before. Once we’re in the elevator, I find my voice, though it’s barely more than a whisper.
“You really don’t have to sleep on the couch,” I say, staring at my shoes. “I-I mean... we could just... share the bed. There’s plenty of space.”
He glances at me, one brow arching slightly. “Are you sure?”
No. I’m not sure. But I nod anyway, my pulse quickening. “Yeah, it’s not a big deal.”
He doesn’t reply immediately, but after a moment, he sighs, his shoulders relaxing just a bit. “Alright. But I’ll stay on my side.”
Deal, I think, swallowing hard. There’s no way I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

Aizawa’s POV:
Of course, this would happen. It’s almost too fitting. One bed—just great. It’s only for one night, I remind myself, but I can already feel the tension growing between us. It’s not that I don’t trust her—or myself—it’s just that this trip is already treading dangerous ground. We’re both supposed to keep things professional. But here we are.
The room itself is standard hotel fare. A bed in the center, a small couch by the window. I set down our bags, trying to keep my thoughts focused on the reception. Not the fact that we’ll be sharing this room tonight.
But first, the reception. And that, I realize, might be an even bigger challenge.
I grab my suit from my bag and head to the bathroom to change, pulling my hair into a loose bun. I rarely bother dressing up for these kinds of things, but tonight... it’s necessary. Once I’m ready, I step out of the bathroom and—
