The morning of the U.A. Festival had finally arrived, and the excitement in the air was electric. Students from all over the school were preparing their booths, displays, and performances, but nothing was getting as much buzz as Class 2-A’s Neko Maid Café.
Inside the classroom-turned-café, Mina was practically bouncing off the walls, making sure everything was just perfect. The decorations were spot-on—cat-shaped banners hung along the walls, tables were set up with paw-print tablecloths, and the scent of freshly baked pastries filled the air.
“Okay, everyone! Places!” Mina called out, adjusting her own maid outfit, which featured a black-and-white dress with pink accents, and of course, the signature cat ears and tail.
I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the frilly black apron tied around my waist, my heart pounding in my chest. The neko maid dress was as adorable as I had feared, with its ruffled skirt and delicate lace, paired with a headband adorned with soft, black cat ears, and a swaying cat tail attached to the back.
Behind me, Midoriya was struggling to fix his own outfit. “I don’t know how you all do this,” he mumbled, his face a deep shade of red as he tried to adjust the hem of his maid dress, which was a similar design to mine, though with a few added frills around the shoulders.
“I feel like I’m going to trip over this,” I said, trying to stay calm as the ruffled skirt swayed with every move. The tail felt especially odd, twitching with my every step.
“Stop fidgeting, Deku!” Bakugo growled from the other side of the room, crossing his arms as he glared at his reflection. His neko maid dress, complete with the cat ears and tail, looked completely out of place on him, only adding to his frustration. “If I have to wear this, you’re not getting out of it.”
Midoriya blushed even harder, stammering, “I-I’m trying!”
Kaminari, however, was all smiles as he twirled in his maid dress, the tail flicking playfully behind him. “Come on, guys, it’s fun! We look amazing!”
Shinsou, Todoroki, and Kirishima were nowhere to be seen, just as Mina had planned. She made sure that Kirishima, Shinsou, Todoroki—and even Aizawa—didn’t know about the neko maid costumes ahead of time. None of them had any idea their boyfriends—or in Aizawa’s case, me—would be dressed like this. The reveal would be everything.
Mina grinned, clearly pleased with her planning. “Okay, no one leaves until the official start! We want the reactions to be priceless.”
The doors opened, and students from all over the festival started pouring in. The café quickly filled up with excited guests, and we were soon whisking around the room, serving drinks and snacks, all while trying to stay in character as adorable neko maids.
“Welcome, nya~!” Kaminari called out, giving a playful wink to a table of students as he set down their tea. “Hope you’re enjoying the festival, nya!”
Midoriya, however, was clearly struggling with the “cute” persona. “Uh… um… welcome… nya?” he stammered, his face turning even redder as the girls at his table giggled.
I tried to keep my cool, balancing a tray of cat-shaped cookies while adjusting my apron. The café was a hit, and everyone was having fun. But there was one person I couldn’t stop thinking about: Aizawa.
He had no idea what I was wearing, and the thought of him seeing me like this made my stomach twist with anticipation.
The doors opened again, and I felt a shift in the air. I glanced up to see Kirishima, Todoroki, Shinsou, and—my heart nearly stopped—Aizawa walking into the café.
Mina had been waiting for this exact moment, her eyes sparkling with mischief as the boyfriends unknowingly entered. The moment they laid eyes on their partners in the neko maid outfits, the reactions were priceless.
Kirishima’s face immediately turned bright red, his eyes widening as he saw Bakugo in the frilly neko maid dress. “Whoa… Katsuki… you look... amazing,” he muttered, scratching the back of his head, trying to hold it together. But the second Bakugo glared at him, the blood spurted from Kirishima’s nose in a classic anime reaction, and he raised a fist, overwhelmed. “So manly and cute...!”
Bakugo growled, fists clenched. “You’re dead after this.”
Todoroki, always calm and composed, was completely thrown off when his eyes landed on Midoriya in the neko maid dress, complete with cat ears and a tail. His cheeks turned red, but instead of blushing, the flames on his left side erupted into a blaze. He quickly turned away, trying to hide his embarrassment. “You... look cute, Midoriya,” he mumbled, doing his best to regain control over his fire.
Midoriya’s face turned an even deeper shade of crimson, and he fumbled with his tray, completely overwhelmed. “T-Todoroki...!”
Shinsou, standing beside them, was no better. He nearly dropped his cool facade when he saw Kaminari, his eyes widened. “What...?” he muttered, clearly caught off guard by how adorable Kaminari looked in the neko maid dress. “I wasn’t ready for this.”
Kaminari winked, clearly loving the reaction. “Told ya I’d look good in a dress!”
Then, there was Shota. Unlike the others, his reaction was far more subtle. His eyes darkened as they landed on me in the neko maid dress, his stoic expression flickering just slightly. I could see the way his gaze swept over the frilly dress, the cat ears perched on my head, and the swaying tail behind me. His control was remarkable, but I knew him well enough to see the heat in his eyes. A slow, deliberate smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth, but outwardly, he remained composed.
For now.
“Sensei,” Shinsou smirked, noticing the subtle change in Aizawa’s demeanor. “You good?”
Aizawa cleared his throat, his usual stoic mask slipping back into place. “I’m fine,” he muttered, though his eyes still flicked back to me, lingering just a second too long. I could feel the weight of his gaze, sending a shiver down my spine. Whatever restraint he was showing now wouldn’t last much longer.
My heart raced, knowing what was coming later. The heat in his gaze told me everything I needed to know. Despite his calm facade, the tension between us was anything but subtle.
