Mailin’s POV:
It’s been four weeks since the League of Villains attacked us at the U.S.J. Now, we’re back in the same place where everything went down. The last time we were here, it was pure chaos. This time, though, it's for training—and I can’t shake the feeling that something is still off.
I adjust my hero costume, making sure everything’s in place as Aizawa-sensei starts giving instructions. His voice is steady, as usual, but there’s an edge to it. After all, we’re standing in the same area where we fought for our lives. His capture weapon is draped over his shoulders, and I can feel his eyes sweep over the class, making sure everyone is focused and ready.
But when his gaze lands on me, I feel a brief flicker of something else. Concern? No, I shake my head. That can’t be it. It’s just training.
Still, I can't ignore the way my heart skips a beat when I catch him watching me. His expression is stern, but there’s something different. Something I’ve noticed a few times now. I take a deep breath, forcing myself to focus on the task at hand. The last thing I need is to get distracted now.
Aizawa-sensei splits the class into groups, assigning each of us roles. As usual, Bakugou’s not thrilled with his position, and the rest of us prepare to begin the rescue simulation. I’m placed with Midoriya, Ochaco, and Bakugou for the second half of the training.
I keep a close eye on the others, mentally preparing to use my telekinesis to move debris or help anyone who gets trapped. This should be straightforward. Focus on saving lives. That’s all that matters.
---
The first part of the training goes by in a blur of teamwork and carefully executed rescues. Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow makes easy work of transporting Ochaco out of the chasm, and I get ready to help in the next phase. But even with everything happening around me, I can’t shake the feeling of Aizawa’s gaze following me. Every time I glance his way, he’s watching closely, like he’s ready to intervene at the slightest sign of trouble.
We move to the urban area next, where the second part of the training begins. This time, it’s real search-and-rescue work. Thirteen selects me, Midoriya, Ochaco, and Bakugou as the rescuers. Bakugou, of course, explodes—literally—at the idea of working with Midoriya again. I just roll my eyes. We’ve all got a job to do.
As the training starts, Bakugou blows himself out of the area, leaving the rest of us behind. I’m not surprised—he always goes off on his own, and I’ve learned to just let him be. The three of us agree to split up and look for the victims who can speak.
Midoriya and I team up, and after a few minutes of searching, we find Ojiro trapped under some debris. Using my telekinesis, I carefully move the rubble out of the way while Midoriya constructs a makeshift ladder with the debris. We work well together—it’s a relief to know that even though we’ve been through hell, we can still function as a team.
---
Suddenly, the villain appears—massive, terrifying. He’s holding Todoroki in one hand like he’s a toy, and the rest of us freeze for a split second, stunned by the sight. I glance at Midoriya, who’s already formulating a plan, and I can feel the adrenaline kicking in.
“Mailin, can you lift Shoto out of the villain’s grasp?” Midoriya asks, his voice steady despite the chaos unfolding around us.
I nod, focusing all my energy on Shoto. With a quick motion, I send my telekinesis toward him, carefully lifting him out of the villain’s hand. The strain is intense—I’ve never lifted a person like this before—but I refuse to let go. Not now.
Midoriya follows through with the next part of the plan, using his quirk to flick the villain and create an opening. At the same time, Bakugou’s explosion propels the villain forward, and I trap him in place with my telekinesis. My body trembles with the effort, but I hold on.
Just as Bakugou is about to finish him off, the villain removes his mask, revealing All Might’s face beneath it. My jaw drops, and I can’t believe what I’m seeing. We’ve been fighting All Might this whole time?
The entire class erupts in disbelief, yelling at All Might for going overboard. Bakugou, of course, looks like he’s ready to kill him. Midoriya is already forgiving him, but I’m still reeling from the adrenaline and the unexpected surprise.

Aizawa’s POV:
From the sidelines, I watch the entire exercise unfold, my eyes tracking Mailin the entire time. She’s strong, no doubt about it. Her telekinesis is precise and powerful, but I can see the strain it’s putting on her.
When she lifts Todoroki out of the villain’s grasp, my heart skips a beat. She’s pushing herself too hard, and I want to intervene, but I hold back. This is training. She needs to learn her limits on her own.
Still, I can’t help but feel that familiar surge of protectiveness welling up inside me. She’s my student. I’m supposed to look out for her. But it’s more than that—it’s the way she carries herself, the way she pushes through the pain without a second thought. It’s admirable, but it also terrifies me.
As the training ends, I make my way over to the class, making sure to catch her eye. She’s exhausted, but she gives me a small, tired smile. I can’t help but feel a sense of pride, even though I know I shouldn’t.
“Good work today, Hoshino,” I say, my voice more serious than I intend. “But don’t push yourself too hard next time. You’ll need that strength for the real thing.”
She nods, her smile fading slightly as she takes in my words. “I’ll be careful, Aizawa-sensei.”
But as she walks away, I can’t shake the feeling that it’s going to be harder and harder to keep these boundaries in place. Especially when she keeps testing them like this.
