Mailin’s POV:
All Might’s speech echoes through the reception hall, his powerful voice filling the room with inspiration. I can see Aizawa standing nearby, his usual calm demeanor in place as he listens, arms crossed. The atmosphere feels charged, like the air before a storm, but I can’t quite place why.
I glance at my watch. I should probably check on the others. Midoriya, Shoto, and the rest are upstairs, most likely getting into some kind of trouble. I smile to myself, knowing how they can never just sit still for long. With one last look at Aizawa, I slip away from the crowd, making my way toward the elevators.
The hotel is quieter as I ride up to the higher floors. My heart pounds in my chest, but I try to calm myself. It’s just another day. Just another party.
When I step out of the elevator, I immediately spot Midoriya and the others gathered by the large windows, all of them watching something with intense focus.
“Hey,” I say, walking up to them. “What are you guys up to?”
Midoriya turns, a sheepish smile on his face. “Just... taking in the view.”
I roll my eyes but smile. “Sure, you are.”
Before we can continue our conversation, the entire building shakes, the lights flickering ominously. My heart skips a beat, and I instinctively reach for my phone, but there’s no signal. A deep sense of dread settles over me.
“What was that?” I ask, my voice shaking slightly.
Izuku looks just as worried. “I don’t know, but... that wasn’t good.”
The alarm blares through the halls, and panic floods me. I run to the nearest window and look out to see security bots flooding the island below, trapping everyone inside the hotel. The central tower locks down, and the entire atmosphere shifts from a formal party to a full-blown crisis.
The doors to the party slam shut, and the lockdown takes full effect. My stomach twists into knots. Something is terribly wrong.
“What’s happening?” Yaoyorozu asks, stepping closer, her face pale.
Before anyone can respond, Midoriya’s phone lights up. A bright flash—his way of signaling All Might. He quickly taps out a message, his fingers moving faster than I’ve ever seen.
“We need to go,” Midoriya says, determination burning in his eyes. “Something’s happening downstairs. I think All Might’s in trouble.”
The words hang in the air like a weight. All Might... in trouble? That’s not something any of us expected to hear.
---
We rush to the stairs, but the elevator system has already been disabled, trapping us on the upper floors. My heart pounds in my chest as we gather together, waiting for someone to suggest what to do next.
Kyoka uses her Quirk to listen through the floors, and her face grows more serious by the second. “It’s worse than we thought. All Might... he’s been captured by these guys.”
I feel my pulse quicken, and my stomach turns. Captured? How is that even possible? My mind flashes back to Aizawa. He must be trapped there, too. The thought sends a jolt of fear through me.
“We can’t just stand here,” Izuku insists. “We need to help them. We can get to the top floor and disable the security system.”
I frown. “We can’t fight villains. This isn’t like the training simulations. It’s real.”
“I know,” Midoriya says, “but we don’t have to fight. We can reset the system and let the Pro Heroes take care of it.”
His words hang in the air, and for a moment, no one speaks. It sounds logical, but my mind is racing, filled with the memories of the USJ Incident. This could turn into another disaster if we’re not careful.
“I don’t know...” I murmur, but Melissa, who’s standing quietly beside us, steps forward.
“I can help,” she says, her voice steady. “I know the system. I can guide us to the top floor, where we can shut it down.”
There’s a beat of silence, and I feel the weight of the decision pressing down on all of us.
“We don’t have a choice,” Midoriya says, his voice firm. “We have to try.”
---
We start moving, racing up the stairs as fast as we can. My legs burn with each step, but the adrenaline pushes me forward. We make it past a few floors before the lockdown system reacts, sealing off the floors with heavy metal shutters. I freeze, panic threatening to rise, but Shoto’s quick thinking buys us time. He uses his ice to stop the doors from closing completely, allowing Tenya to force the next door open.
We break through the corridor and keep running. Every second feels like an eternity, the weight of what’s happening pressing down on my chest. All I can think about is Aizawa—wondering if he’s okay. I bite my lip, trying to shove the thoughts away, but it’s no use. The worry is always there, gnawing at me.
---
Eventually, we reach the Plant Factory, where the security shutters block us once more. The villains have noticed us, and it won’t be long before they catch up.
Kyoka stops us, listening for any sign of movement. “They’re coming.”
I swallow hard, fear twisting in my gut. It’s then that Shoto and I notice the elevator rising up the floor. It’s filled with villains. We freeze, hiding in the shadows as the elevator doors slide open.
Two masked men step out, scanning the area. “Looks like we’ve got company.”
The air is tense, and I hold my breath, hoping they don’t see us. Then, a voice cuts through the tension.
“What are you idiots doing?”
I turn, spotting Bakugo and Kirishima approaching the villains, playing it off like they’ve been lost this whole time. My heart skips a beat—what are they doing?
Before the villains can react, Shoto springs into action, creating a massive ice wall to block their view of us. Then, with a wave of his hand, he lifts us to the next floor. The villains don’t stand a chance against Bakugo and Shoto’s teamwork, and soon enough, we’re on the move again.
---
We finally make it to the maintenance room, where the security system has locked everything down. My classmates turn to me.
“You can get us in there, Mailin,” Denki says with a grin, his confidence in me clear. “You’ve got this.”
I nod, swallowing the lump in my throat. Floating outside the tower isn’t exactly easy, but I know I can do it. I take a deep breath and activate my Quirk, floating up and outside the building.
The wind howls in my ears as I ascend, and the height makes my stomach churn. But I push through, reaching the small panel and opening the way for the others. Once they’re inside, I collapse to the ground, my body trembling from the exertion.
There’s no time to rest. We have to keep moving. And even though I’m exhausted, I know we’re getting closer. Closer to saving everyone. Closer to stopping this nightmare.
