"Perhaps we should have a break." Will suggested as he gazed around the room at the tense and perturbed faces of the past generation. "I think that's a grand idea son." Apollo chimed his eyes turned to the flamboyant old man confined in a constricting spell, his mind raced with the things he wished to do to him. "Dinner?" Thalia asked, small tables appearing in front of each sofa. "Please tell me that you won't get any more hurt, I don't think my heart can take it." James pleaded with his daughter who stood up and sat beside him, wrapping him in a hug. "I can't promise that, but I can guarantee you that I stay alive." She kissed his cheek, smiling when she felt a set of arms on her shoulders, "Corvus." She turned to her godbrother and smiled, it had been so long since they last got to be together. "Little flower." He kissed her head as he hugged her, "how have you been sister?"
"I've been fine, what about you, and Astro how is he?" She looked around beaming when she locked eyes with her cousin and uncle. "We're all fine, glad to be here though." He ruffled her hair before returning to sit with his fathers. "What happened with your mother?" James asked, it had been bothering him to no end, they seemed fine when they first got there, perhaps they had made up? "It's complicated, we. We have always had a difficult relationship, she loved you very much and when you fell into that coma she blamed me. That, as you can imagine, put a strain on our relationship, but she was a good mother, at times. She did her best, really. It was just hard for her." Cassiopeia sighed as she leaned into her father's side, "we're fine now, our relationship is good, truly." A content expression settled over her face as she gazed at her mother and brother. "I see. It will be different this time, I promise." James kissed her hair. "I know, but promise me one other thing, I want to go to camp, I want to meet Percy." She looked up at him with pleading eyes. "He seems like a good kid." James muttered looking over to the blonde who was joking with his friends. "He is." Cassiopeia assured standing up to go and see her grandparents. Euphemia immediately pulled the dark haired girl to sit beside her when she saw her approach, "Cassy darling, how are you?" She smoothed a hand down Cassiopeia's back. "I'm good grandma, oh hi Luna." Cassiopeia waved to the blonde who was sat beside Fleamont and Thalia. "Hi Cassy." Luna said airily, her head tilting to the side. "So, my darling, tell me all about these gods." Euphemia requested glaring over to the deities."Son." Poseidon walked over to Percy and stood before him, silencing the conversation he was engaging in with his friends. "Father." Percy acknowledged. "I need to know what you know about Cassiopeia's grandmother, is she a threat." Poseidon seemed genuinely concerned as he glanced nervously at the older woman who was shooting daggers at him. "Well, from what James told me no, but also you hurt her grandbaby and her grand babies family, soooo, yeah you should be very concerned." Percy replied with a laugh, a childish grin stretched across his face as he looked up at his father, "but it's fine Zuzu should be the one who's really worried." The boy nodded over to the lightning god who was shifting uncomfortably in his seat, trying to ignore his wife's piercing gaze. "Right?" Poseidon awkwardly walked back to his throne. "Oh my gods!" Nico cackled, slapping Will as he shook with laughter, "that was hilarious." The others all laughed along tears forming in their eyes at their own amusement. "Ohhh I can't believe he's scared of Grandma Mia." Clarisse chortled, her body rocking with amusement. Ignoring the stares of others, the group of demigods and mages went back to their conversation, occasionally picking at the food that had appeared for them. "You know what I miss?" Connor started, "Cassiopeia's home made soup and bread." Hmmms of agreement sifted through the group as they all recalled the divine taste of the demigods cooking. "Oh, maybe she'll make it for us tomorrow if we ask nicely." Grover suggested, he too missed the girls culinary skills. "Hey, Cynthus!" Percy called out to his wife who looked over to him questioningly. "Come eat with us." He requested, grinning when she bid goodbye to her grandparents, Thalia and Luna to come and sit with them. "Hi love." She kissed his cheek fondly, "hey." She greeted the rest as she popped a grape into her mouth. "Hyacinth?" Annabeth drew her attention. "Will you make us soup and bread tomorrow?" Ginny asked with puppy eyes, her lips pursed into a pout. Cassiopeia chuckled lightly, "sure, but it takes all day so we would need to have a days break from this." She replied gesturing up at the screen. "That's fine with me." "Cool." "Sure" they all agreed to eager to have her cooking to care about the conditions for her to make it. Somewhere in their conversation the topic of Greeks arose, "well who is your favourite Ancient Greek?" Annabeth asked Cassiopeia who hummed in thought, "Polites." She replied. "Why?" Clarisse screwed up her nose at the answer. "Well who is your favourite?" Cassiopeia shot back. "Heracles." Ares' daughter answered. "Please he was a raging whore." Cassiopeia laughed. "Excuse me?" Will choked slightly at Cassiopeia's insult. "Do you know how many kids he had? 101. Like the fucking Dalmatians." Cassiopeia sassed, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "Seriously!?" Nico asked, fascinated by Cassiopeia's response. "Yeah, he had three mortal wives, like a hundred affairs and then married Hebe, and they had two kids. 49 of his offspring belonged to the fifty daughters of Thespius who he slept with all in the same night, the 50th daughter refused so Heracles made her become a virgin priestess in a temple dedicated to him." She recited, and giggled when all of the other demigods shuddered at the fact. "Ok, so maybe not a good hero." Clarisse rose her hands in defence, "but what did you say Polities? Who in the underworld is that?" She barked. "He was a member of Odysseus's crew, his dearest friend, some suspect they were lovers but that's up for debate unless you want to visit Hades and ask. He was killed by either Scylla or Zeus's lightning bolt that was sent at Odysseus's ship." Cassiopeia explained, "he fought in the Trojan Wars as a warrior of Ithaca." She added. "That's cool and all but why do you like him so much?" George asked, his brows raised. "I don't really know, the tale of Odysseus's is one of my favourites and while he isn't mentioned much at all, I just really liked Polities as a person." Cassiopeia shrugged slightly. "Who's your favourite?" She nodded to Nico who tipped his head back in thought. "Probably Orpheus." He replied, his answer shocked Cassiopeia slightly. "The poet?" She giggled expecting him to say Theseus or Achilles, who was a close second favourite of hers, "that's cute. His story is undoubtedly tragic." She sighed. "Orpheus, he's one of the ones that went to the underworld right?" Percy checked. "Yeah his lover, Eurydice died and he went to the underworld to get her, the story varies slightly but in all of them Hades allowed him to lead her out so long as he did not look back until they left the underworld. In all of them he failed, wether it was his need to be sure that she was following or if she was calling out to him, in one version I heard he had made it to the mouth of the underworld, seeing the first rays of light, he turned around to share his joy with his lover only to watch her vanish. It's a truly tragic story." Cassiopeia told as she lied her head onto her husband's shoulder. "That's so sad." Ginny murmured, clinging onto Annabeth's waist slightly tighter. "Mmm it really is, all of the heroes lives were." Travis agreed, nodding his head slightly. "Do you think of you ask nicely, your father will let us into the underworld to talk to all of the dead heroes, cause I want to talk to Achilles and Patroclus, their story has always been favourite of mine, and the one I view as perhaps the most tragic." Cassiopeia asked, glancing over to the god of the dead for a moment. "Maybe." Nico shrugged looking over to his father and step mother. "Do you think the gods had favourite heroes?" Will asked. "Maybe, we should ask them one day, I know your dad had some favourite cows though." Cassiopeia chuckled. "Cows?" Kira furrowed her brows she didn't recall hearing that in one of the stories. "Yeah, and Odysseus's crew killed them to eat, that's why Zeus attacked them." Cassiopeia replied a yawn breaking up her speech. "I'm going to head to bed." She announced giving Percy a peck on the lips before waving goodbye to the others and headed to go up to the room of requirements for the night. Just as she was leaving she passed by Achlys who pulled her into a tight hug, "how are you?" She whispered as she held the dark haired girl close. "Fine, just tired, how are you Betty? You must be worried being this far from your boyfriend." Cassiopeia teased as she held the blonde's hand in hers. "Stop." Achlys whined, playfully hitting Cassiopeia's arm, "I'm fine though, this is all really bringing back memories." The blonde sighed, her chocolate eyes shimmering with a distant longing. "Maybe things will be different this time." Cassiopeia tried to make her feel better. "I don't know how different I want them to be. I mean, I'm happy now, I don't know if I want this all to change." Achlys muttered, her eyes lining with liquid sorrow. "Oh, Betty." Cassiopeia pulled the girl closer, allowing her to silently sob into her shoulder as she ran her hand up and down her back. "I'm just heading to bed, you can stay with me if you want. Percy can sleep on the couch." She offered. "Thank you." Achlys gave a watery smile as they left to go to bed.
"I'm glad we met." Achlys murmured as they settled down in bed. "I'll forever be grateful to you." Cassiopeia replied placing a kiss on her forehead, her eyes fluttering shut as exhaustion seeped in.AN: only a short chapter sorry.
