November came with a new air, the first trial had been scheduled, though its contents remained a mystery to the student body, despite the speculations that circulated the gossip scene. Leaves littered the grounds now, the trees bared and the last of the flowers wilted away as nights drew longer, mornings darker and air cooler.

In the library, Cassiopeia sat with Jake, Alex, Achlys and Luna, the five of them doing various managerial tasks: their homework, research, letter writing, signing documents. Serene silence settled around them, only the sound of quill to paper disrupting it, until Alex put his quill down and sighed, leaning back in his chair. Tilting his head back, he caught sight of a couple of students staring at them a raised a brow, prompting them to turn and hastily walk away.

"Cassie?" Said witch lifted her head to give him a curious glance, "I have to ask, why is it that you stopped the talk about Hadrian? You have never intervened where he is concerned before, so why this time?" The question seemed to draw the attention of the others two, bar Luna who continued to read her addition of The Quibbler.

"Because, despite disowning him, he still carries my family name, and while I don't care for him being labelled a liar and a cheat, I do care for that title being extended to my family name." She explained, turning her attention back to the papers she was signing, "besides, I meant what I said about there being far more at work here than just a foolish little boy wishing to play champion."

Subconsciously, many of the mages from the future turned their eyes towards Tom Riddle and Adeline, taking in the sight of the completely average appearances they harboured.

Accepting her answer, the others turned back to their own tasks and the silence fell again. This had become a common pastime among the court, going in groups to the library when they had the time, each working on their own things in each other's company. Kira had been becoming increasingly firm with the Heather Unit's training, despite Fred and George's complaints about the extra work. The Iris and Orchid units had been working together on a new project for the 'Royal Garden's Nursery' children's homes. Daphne had taken to using her personally selected group of friends to design and promote the new project, working closely with a few older years who were particularly talented in interior design to create plans for the inside of the orphanages.

Some time later, while moving between charms and potions, Cassiopeia happened across a vast collection of students gathering in the courtyard, amongst them, she spotted Neville, Ginny and the Hufflepuff boy, Cedric. Approaching her friends, she gently tapped Ginny's shoulder, looking through the crowd to see what was happening, only seeing Harry, Draco's friends and Mad Eye Moodie.

"What is going on? Why is everyone here?" Ginny turned to the older girl, giggling before she could even answer the questions, clasping Cassiopeia's gloved hand tightly.

"Mad Eye transfigured Malfoy into a ferret!" She exclaimed, "you should have seen it. It's because Draco was being 'mean' to Harry, but I think it was justified. I mean he's a total twat." The red head rambled, "oh and these badge things have been getting passed around, they're ghastly but kind of funny I suppose."

Draco bristled at the reminder of the humiliating event, while Lucius raised a brow at his son, his face a mix of second hand embarrassment and mild judgment, resulting in a smack from Narcissa who offered Draco a small smile.

Nodding, Cassiopeia kissed Ginny's head quickly before slipping through the crowd to the front, watching a white ferret slip from the trouser leg of one of Draco's friends, only to scamper over to her. Raising a brow, she picked up the ferret, holding it by the scruff of its neck, shooting a sharp look in Harry's direction who was smiling too much for her liking.
