The next day came too soon for Cassiopeia, rest seemed to evade her for the whole night prior. Nonetheless she couldn't delay the next day's session of film watching.
"Cassiopeia." Draco smiled politely as the dark haired girl approached him. He had seen her dancing with the blonde boy and wanted to ask who it was. "You look lovely this evening cousin."
"Thank you, Draco. I could say the same about you." Cassiopeia returned the smile, bowing her head. "I'm sorry we haven't gotten to talk much, I didn't get to introduce you to my friends from America. You might see them around though, you've probably already seen one, Percy Jackson, he was the one I was dancing with." She explained.
The cousins shared an easy conversation until Cassiopeia excused herself to mingle with the rest of her guests. The night felt as though it lasted forever, hundreds of people to talk to and a few too many dances left her with sore feet and zero social battery.
Euphemia and Walburg locked eyes and nodded in silent agreement. Cassiopeia Potter Black was a natural born lady, she possessed an elegance and sophistication that any pureblood lady would envy.
Tom and Adeline also shared a glance, whoever this young girl was she was influential and brilliant at playing the pureblood game.
It was safe to say that she was glad when the night ended. "That was so fun!" Delilah exclaimed her excitement still lingering from the night. Even still she couldn't stifle the yawn that rose in her throat.
Daphne, Pansy, Neville and Astoria had left with the rest of the guests to spend the last of the holiday with their families.
"You bet it was," Kira ruffled the younger girl's hair, "how about we head to bed now though? I'm exhausted." She sighed dramatically, doing an exaggerated fake yawn to get the girl to agree.
"I'm going to turn in as well." Cassiopeia said, slipping her heals from her feet, "I had a lovely time, thank you all for being here." She told them as she held her shoes in one hand. The floor was cold on the soles of her feet, an uncomfortable feeling but still better than the pain of her heels.
Andromeda winced with sympathy for the girl, she remembered all the balls she attended that left her feet bloody and sore from the heels she was forced into.
Every one bid each other a good night before separating to their rooms. Cassiopeia was mid way through wiping away her makeup when a knock came at her door. "Yes?" She said inviting the person inside.
"Hey, it's just me," Achlys entered the room, she had already changed clothes though she still had her hair and makeup done. "Do you mind if I stay with you tonight?" She asked hopefully.
"Of course not. Come, we need to get all our makeup off before bed." Cassiopeia patted the seat beside her, urging the blonde to sit down.
"Do you ever sleep alone?" Regulus tilted his head to look at Cassiopeia from beside James, "because every time we see you going to bed or waking up, someone else is with you." He observed. Cassiopeia smiled a little and laughed.
"Rarely," she shrugged, "usually some gremlin ends up with me."
Together they washed up, cleansing their faces and undoing their hair, Achlys even helped untie the back of Cassiopeia's gown for her. Once they were ready, the two climbed into Cassiopeia's bed, sighing in relief when they could finally relax into the soft mattress.
"Percy, he was the one you drew on the train wasn't he." Achlys said, she didn't have to turn to know that Cassiopeia's attention was on her. "What's the deal between you two?"
"Yes," Cassiopeia whispered, "he was the one I drew. As for what the deal is, there is no deal. We're just good friends." Achlys shot her a look that read, I don't believe a word from your mouth.
