When he's too good looking.
You were sprawled out on the couch, deeply absorbed in your latest romance novel. The heroine was on the brink of confessing her undying love, and you could practically feel the tension radiating off the pages. It was the kind of scene that had you hooked, oblivious to everything else around you.
You vaguely registered the sound of running water in the kitchen. Heeseung, your boyfriend, must have been getting something to drink. Not that you were paying attention — this book had you in its grip.
Just as the heroine's lips parted to speak, the sound of footsteps snapped you back to reality. You didn't look up at first, still glued to the page. But then, you felt it. That magnetic pull that only one person could make you feel.
Curiosity got the better of you, and you glanced up — and oh boy, were you not prepared for the sight in front of you.
Heeseung had just come from the kitchen, looking like he walked straight off the cover of a magazine. His damp hair was pushed back, his skin glowing from being freshly washed. He was wearing that plain white shirt that somehow made him look ten times more attractive, paired with his favorite gray sweatpants. It wasn't fair how effortlessly good-looking he was.
Your brain short-circuited. Your eyes widened, heart skipped a beat, and suddenly, the book in your hands wasn't a priority anymore. It slipped from your fingers, flipping upside down as it landed awkwardly on the couch.
Heeseung's gaze shifted from your face to the book. The tiniest smirk began to form on his lips. "Did the book get too heavy," he asked, a teasing glint in his eyes, "or am I that distracting?"
Panic set in. You scrambled to grab the book, flipping it the right way up — or so you thought — and held it close to your chest, pretending everything was fine.
"W-What? No! I wasn't distracted at all," you stammered, trying to regain your cool. "I was just, uh, taking a break from reading."
Heeseung's eyes gleamed with amusement as he sat down next to you. He glanced at the book in your hands, and his smirk widened. "You sure about that?"
"Of course!" You were doing your best to sound convincing, but the heat rising to your cheeks wasn't helping. "I was just getting to a really intense part, actually. You know, the heroine's about to confess her feelings, and it's very... uh... emotional."
"Emotional, huh?" Heeseung leaned in slightly, and you could feel his eyes on you, but you refused to look at him. You were already on the verge of combusting.
Then, he reached out and gently turned the book around in your hands. It was upside down."Are you sure you were reading it?" he asked, voice full of mischief.
You blinked down at the book, feeling your soul leave your body. You had been holding it upside down this entire time.
Heeseung burst out laughing, the sound of his amusement filling the room as you covered your face with the book — right side up this time.
