As you lay there, your back turned to him, the tension from the argument hung in the air like a heavy blanket. You pulled the covers up higher, a silent attempt to create distance, but deep down, you felt the ache of missing his warmth beside you. Despite the anger still simmering in your chest, the emptiness felt sharper, more painful than anything you'd fought about.
You felt him stir beside you, and for a second, you thought maybe he was asleep. But then, a soft graze of his fingertip traced its way up your arm. It was gentle, almost apologetic, yet you were still mad. You swatted his hand away, stubbornly clinging to your resolve. He didn't stop, though. Instead, he brushed a few strands of hair away from your face, tucking them behind your ear. His fingertips lingered, almost as if asking for forgiveness without words. Annoyed, you brushed his hand away again, holding your ground.
The silence stretched on, but Heeseung's patience had worn thin. Suddenly, you felt him shift, and before you could protest, his arms wrapped around you, pulling you against him. You gasped in surprise, feeling his strong embrace as he held you tightly. You could feel his heart beating against your back, steady and calming, and for a moment, it drowned out your anger.
"Enough," he whispered softly, his voice low and warm against your ear. "I'm not letting you go to sleep mad at me."
You didn't say anything at first, still clinging to the last bits of your irritation. But as his arms held you close, you felt something melt inside, like a wall crumbling. His warmth seeped into you, quieting the hurt you hadn't even realized you'd been holding onto.
With a small sigh, you leaned into his embrace, letting his arms cocoon you completely. "You really are stubborn, you know that?" you mumbled, barely loud enough for him to hear.
He let out a soft chuckle, his breath warm against your neck. "I could say the same about you."
The tension finally lifted, and as he nuzzled into the crook of your neck, you couldn't help but smile, the comfort of his presence dissolving any remnants of anger. "So annoying," you muttered, although you were having butterflies in your stomach.
He squeezed you tighter, pressing a gentle kiss to your shoulder. "That's a weird way of saying 'I Love You'" You roll your eyes, smiling slightly.
And in that warmth, you found yourself drifting off, this time wrapped in the arms of the person who mattered most.
