Call

When he's on tour and calls you.

You sat on the bed, feeling the familiar sting of tears. It was your first time living without Heeseung, since he was on a world tour with ENHYPEN. Each night, you'd cry either because of nightmares or just the thought of him being so far away. He was always there to comfort you, but now you were alone.

Wiping the last of your tears away, you didn't bother calling Heeseung because you knew about the time differences. You'd accepted that a long-distance scenario was inevitable given his career and hectic schedule. Just as you were about to settle down, your phone rang. Annoyed, you ignored it, thinking it was probably a relative or some gossip-obsessed friend. But the ringing persisted.

Frustrated, you answered the call without checking the caller ID, your voice cracking with irritation. "Hello?"

"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" Heeseung's worried voice came through the line, instantly recognizable.

Your heart skipped a beat, and you ended the call in a panic. Taking deep breaths, you drank some water to calm yourself down. When you felt a bit more composed, you picked up the phone and called him back, this time with a steadier voice.

"Hey," you greeted softly.

Heeseung wasted no time. "Are you alright? What happened?"

"I'm fine," you replied, trying to sound convincing.

"Don't lie to me," he said sternly. "If you don't tell me the truth, I'll leave the tour and come to you right away."

You sighed, knowing he was serious. "You're just being paranoid. Calm down."

"Okay then," he challenged, "why was your voice cracked?"

You quickly lied, "I have a small throat ache, that's all. You don't need to worry so much."

He was silent for a moment, then sighed. "I miss you."

"I miss you too," you whispered.

"It's not homesickness, it's you-sickness," he said, his voice filled with longing.

You chuckled softly. "You-sickness, huh? That's a new one."

"Yeah, it's true. I think about you all the time. I miss your smile, your laugh, even your silly little habits," he confessed.

"I miss your handsome face," you teased, trying to lighten the mood.

"Oh, so you admit it," he replied with a chuckle. "You do miss my handsome face."

"Of course I do," you said, smiling through your tears.

"Good," he said, his tone playful. "Because I miss seeing your beautiful face too. I miss holding you, talking to you, just being with you."

"Me too," you admitted. "It's hard without you here."

"I know, baby," he said gently. "But we'll get through this. Just a few more weeks, and I'll be back home."

You nodded, even though he couldn't see you. "I can't wait."

"Neither can I," he agreed. "But in the meantime, call me whenever you need to, okay? No matter the time difference."

"I will," you promised.

Heeseung sighed. "I should get going. We have another rehearsal soon."

"Okay," you said, trying to keep the disappointment out of your voice.

"I love you," he said softly.

"I love you too," you replied.

"Take care of yourself," he reminded you. "And no more crying, alright?"

"I'll try," you said, smiling a little, knowing that he could see right through you (or hear to be accurate).

"That's my girl," he said. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight," you replied, hanging up the phone.

You lay back on the bed, feeling a bit more at ease. Hearing his voice, even if only for a few minutes, had made all the difference. You knew it wouldn't be easy, but as long as you had each other, you could get through anything.
