You had never been one to seek the spotlight. Falling in love with Heeseung had been something that just happened—effortlessly, naturally. Despite his idol status, despite the flashing cameras and the ever-watchful eyes of fans, it was easy to love him. Heeseung, with his bright laughter, warm cuddles, and gentle words, had quickly become your safe haven. He made you feel like the world disappeared when it was just the two of you.
But outside of your bubble, the world had its own opinion.
From the moment news leaked about your relationship, everything changed. His fans, the same people who supported him so fiercely, turned on you. You never wanted to become a public figure, yet you were dragged into the light simply for loving someone they all adored. Every day, there were new comments, new messages. Hate flowed in from every corner of the internet, flooding your social media, your inbox, your life.
"She's ruining his career."
"Heeseung deserves better."
"How could she do this to us?"
"She's nothing compared to him."
You tried to ignore it. You told yourself over and over that it was just noise. That these people didn't know you, didn't know how much you cared for Heeseung, or how much he cared for you.
And for the most part, Heeseung helped you drown it all out. He would hold you close, press kisses to your temple, and whisper things like, "Don't listen to them. They don't matter. I'm the one who knows you, who loves you."
And for a while, that was enough.
There were nights you'd lie in bed together, laughing about the most random things. Heeseung always knew how to make you smile, even after a rough day. His presence felt like a balm to your soul. When you were in his arms, the world felt far away, the hatred of strangers like a distant hum that you could tune out. You felt safe with him, like nothing bad could ever reach you.
But the reality was much darker.
As time went on, the hate didn't stop—it intensified. Fans became more invasive, more vicious. You had to delete your social media accounts, shut off your phone just to get some peace. Even then, the comments haunted you. Heeseung did his best to shield you from it all, but it wasn't easy. His career meant he was constantly under the public eye, and by extension, so were you.
"Maybe I should stop," you said one night, your voice barely a whisper as you lay in his arms."Stop what?" Heeseung asked, his hand gently running through your hair.
"Being with you," you said, your heart aching as the words left your lips.
Heeseung froze, his hand stilling in your hair. "What are you talking about?"
"I just... I don't want to make things harder for you. For your career," you murmured, avoiding his gaze.
