When he defends you to his ex.

You were sitting in your favorite café, waiting for Heeseung to finish practice. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and the soft chatter around you created a peaceful atmosphere. It was a routine that you had fallen into—meeting him here after his long practice sessions. The day had been pretty uneventful, and you were excited to see him, knowing his bright smile would be the highlight of your evening.

As you scrolled through your phone, you received a text from Heeseung:

Heeseung: Running a bit late, be there soon. Miss you ❤️

You smiled, your heart fluttering at his words. He was always so sweet, even when he was tired. You leaned back in your chair, glancing around the café, but something—or rather, someone—caught your eye.

She walked in with an air of confidence, her presence immediately noticeable. You recognized her instantly: Jina, Heeseung's ex-girlfriend. You had never really interacted with her before, but you knew her reputation. She was popular, always in the spotlight, and had a history with Heeseung that you tried not to think about too much.

Jina's eyes scanned the café, and when they landed on you, a smug smile appeared on her lips. She sauntered over to your table as if she had something to prove, her heels clicking against the floor with each step.

"Y/N, right?" she asked, her voice dripping with condescension as she pulled out the chair across from you without waiting for an invitation. "How cute. Waiting for Heeseung, I assume?"

You raised an eyebrow, slightly taken aback by her tone. "Yeah, he'll be here soon."

Her smile widened, but there was something sharp about it. "You know, it's funny seeing you here. I remember when *I* used to meet Heeseung after practice. We had some good times back then." She leaned in slightly, her gaze unwavering. "I'm sure he's told you all about it."

You tensed at her words, but you refused to let her see you rattled. "Heeseung and I don't really talk about the past. We're happy now, and that's what matters."

Jina let out a light laugh, twirling a strand of her perfectly styled hair. "Happy, huh? That's what I thought, too, before everything fell apart. I mean, don't get me wrong. Heeseung is sweet... but he's a bit too nice, don't you think? That's why it didn't work between us. I needed someone who could keep up with me."

You clenched your jaw, trying to stay calm. "It didn't work because you broke up with him, Jina. But that's in the past."

Her expression shifted slightly, her eyes narrowing as she leaned back in her chair. "Oh, sweetie, that's not why it ended. He was never over me, you know. Heeseung's just... comfortable with you. You're safe, predictable. I doubt he's really as invested as you think."

Her words felt like tiny knives, poking at insecurities you didn't even realize you had. But before you could respond, you noticed Heeseung walking into the café, his eyes immediately searching for you. The moment he saw you, his face lit up, and he quickly made his way over.
