The past week had been nothing short of a nightmare. You'd spent every night crying, the tears soaking into your pillow as you replayed the moment Heeseung had broken up with you over and over again. His words echoed in your mind, each syllable a sharp stab to your heart. He said it was over, that he couldn't do this anymore. And you, too shocked and devastated to ask for an explanation, had simply watched him walk away.
But what hurt more than the break-up itself was the picture that had surfaced the very next day—a picture of Heeseung sitting in a café with another girl, her smile radiant as they chatted away. It didn't take long for the rumors to spread, and soon enough, you found yourself believing them. She was an idol, just like you, and the way they looked at each other in that photo made your stomach turn.
Was she the reason he broke up with you? Did he leave you for her?
These questions plagued your thoughts day and night, robbing you of sleep and any appetite you might have had. You started skipping meals, and it wasn't long before your once-healthy complexion began to pale, dark circles forming under your eyes. Your members noticed the change almost immediately, but no matter how much they scolded or comforted you, the pain in your chest refused to ease.
You'd been avoiding ENHYPEN, too. The thought of seeing Heeseung, of confronting him about the picture, was too much to bear. So when their members reached out, asking you to come over to their dorm, you declined every single time. You couldn't face them—couldn't face him.
The only thing that kept you going was your work with PROMISE. Practices were grueling, but they gave you something to focus on, something to drown out the heartache. But even during practice, your thoughts would wander back to Heeseung, and you'd find yourself blinking back tears.
Today was no different. You were in the middle of practice, going through the motions of the choreography, when the exhaustion hit you harder than usual. The sleepless nights, the missed meals—it was all catching up to you. When your group finally took a half-hour break, you immediately sank to the floor, your body too weak to stand any longer.
"Y/N, you need to eat something," Jen scolded gently, kneeling beside you. Her eyes were filled with concern as she took in your pale complexion and sunken cheeks.
Minji nodded in agreement, her expression just as worried. "You can't keep doing this to yourself. You're going to make yourself sick."
You sighed, the weight of their words pressing down on you. You knew they were right, but you just couldn't bring yourself to care. The pain of losing Heeseung consumed you, leaving little room for anything else.
Jen reached out and patted her lap, offering you a place to rest. "Come here. You need to sleep, even if it's just for a little while."
Too tired to argue, you laid your head on her lap, the coolness of her touch soothing your fevered skin. The last thing you remembered was Jen's gentle hand brushing through your hair before you drifted off to sleep, the darkness of your mind finally giving you a reprieve.
Jen watched you with a sad expression as you slept, her fingers lightly tracing the dark circles under your eyes. "She's really hurting," she whispered to Minji, who nodded in agreement.
