When You Play in the Playground.
It was a perfect night in Seoul, the streets lit up with soft glows from the street lamps and neon signs. You and Heeseung walked hand in hand, your laughter filling the air as you shared stories and memories. The cool breeze felt refreshing, and everything seemed just right.
As you walked, a park came into view, and your eyes lit up with excitement. Without thinking, you let go of Heeseung's hand and sprinted towards the playground. Heeseung paused, a smile spreading across his face as he watched you run off, shaking his head at your playful nature.
You quickly reached the swings and plopped yourself onto one, pumping your legs to get higher. "Heeseung, come on!" you called out, your voice filled with joy.
Heeseung walked over slowly, his smile widening. "You look like an actual child," he teased, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
You pouted, still swinging. "Hey, I'm the average height of any girl out there!"
He chuckled, finally sitting on the swing next to yours. "Sure you are," he said, his tone playful.
You stuck your tongue out at him, but then your expression softened as you saw the tender look in his eyes. Heeseung always had a way of making you feel seen and loved, no matter how silly you acted.
As you swung back and forth, Heeseung watched you with a thoughtful expression. "I've always wondered," he began, his voice gentle, "why do you like kid stuff so much? This isn't the first time we've ended up at a playground."
You slowed down a bit, your feet dragging in the dirt to bring the swing to a stop. "Well," you started, looking at the ground, "when I was little, I never really got the freedom to go out, have fun, and make friends. I was always cooped up inside the house. My parents were super strict."
Heeseung's eyes softened. "That sounds tough."
You nodded, taking a deep breath. "It was. So now, whenever I get a chance, I want to live the life I never got. It makes me feel... free."
Heeseung reached over, taking your hand in his. "I get it," he said softly. "And I think it's beautiful. You're making up for lost time in the best way possible."
You smiled, squeezing his hand. "Thanks, Heeseung."
The conversation flowed easily as you both talked about your childhoods. You shared stories of the games you played alone in your room, the books you read, and the dreams you had of playing outside with other kids. Heeseung listened attentively, sharing bits of his own childhood in return.
"You know," he said after a while, "I think it's amazing how you've turned something that could have made you bitter into something so positive."
You looked at him, touched by his words. "I guess I just want to be happy," you said simply.
Heeseung smiled, standing up and pulling you to your feet. "Well, you make me happy," he said, his eyes locking onto yours.
Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt a rush of affection for him. "You make me happy too," you whispered.
Heeseung leaned in, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face. "Come on," he said, his voice soft. "Let's get going."
You nodded, taking his hand as you both started to walk away from the playground. The night was still and quiet, and you felt a deep sense of contentment wash over you.
As you walked hand in hand, you couldn't help but think about how lucky you were to have Heeseung in your life. He was kind, understanding, and always knew how to make you feel special.
"You know," Heeseung said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence, "I think we should make it a tradition."
You looked at him, curious. "Make what a tradition?"
"Coming to playgrounds," he said, a playful smile on his lips. "Whenever we find one, we should stop and play. Just for a little while."
You laughed, feeling a warm glow spread through you. "I like that idea," you said. "A lot."
Heeseung grinned, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. "Good. Because I plan on spending a lot more time with you."
Your heart swelled with happiness, and you leaned into him as you walked. "I love you, Heeseung."
He stopped, turning to face you. "I love you too," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
In that moment, everything felt perfect. You knew that no matter what, as long as you had Heeseung by your side, you could face anything. Together, you walked into the night, hand in hand, ready to face whatever the future held.
