Enemy

He's your enemy.

You sat in the back of your lecture hall, glaring at the back of a familiar head. Lee Heeseung, the bane of your existence, was sitting in his usual seat at the front, all smug and annoyingly good-looking. How could someone be so perfect yet so infuriating? You couldn't stand him. Ever since the first day of college, you and Heeseung had been at each other's throats—constant banter, eye rolls, sarcastic remarks, and an undeniable tension that everyone else seemed to notice. Except for the two of you, of course.

The professor's voice droned on in the background, but you were too distracted. All you could think about was how Heeseung was going to pull some ridiculous stunt today. He always did. He lived to make your life difficult, and you—well, you lived to return the favor.

As class ended and everyone began filing out, you bumped into him on your way out the door.

"Watch where you're going, Heeseung," you muttered, trying to push past him.

He turned, smirking. "Oh, it's you. Should've known by the way the temperature dropped the second you came near me."

You rolled your eyes. "Wow, that's original. Did you steal that from a middle schooler?"

He leaned against the doorframe, blocking your way, and flashed that infuriating grin. "Nah, just trying to match your level."

Your eyes narrowed. "Move."

"Or what? You gonna fight me right here, in front of everyone? Again?"

You huffed, crossing your arms. "You're lucky I'm a pacifist."

Heeseung raised an eyebrow, amused. "Yeah, I'm so sure about that."

You tried to walk around him, but he blocked your path once more, his smile growing. "You know, you're kind of cute when you're angry."

Your cheeks burned. "I'm going to count to three, Lee. If you're not out of my way, I'm stepping on your precious shoes."

He glanced down at his brand-new sneakers with mock horror. "You wouldn't."

"One..."

He held up his hands in surrender, stepping aside. "Okay, okay, I value my life—and my shoes."

You gave him one last glare before marching out of the classroom. But even as you walked away, you couldn't help but feel a stupid grin tug at the corner of your lips. Heeseung had this way of getting under your skin, but you weren't about to let him win.

The next day, you were minding your own business in the library when, of course, the universe decided to be cruel. You were studying at your usual table, peacefully flipping through notes, when Heeseung strolled in and plopped down across from you.
