Christina
"Your bath is ready," Debbie pulled her eyes away from me and pointed to the bathtub.
I was grateful that she didn't ask any questions, but I knew she had an idea of where that hickey came from.
"Debbie.... mhm... about this," she interrupted me in the middle. You don't need to tell me anything, My Lady. The less I know, the better it will be," she said in a firm voice, looking into my eyes.
Her eyes said differently, like I have got you, and you don't need to worry. I knew she wouldn't mention it to anyone. I trusted Debbie. She had been with me for years. She never said anything to anyone when Logan and I used to sneak into each other's rooms for movie nights.
I soaked in the hot water, soothing my aching body. First, the rain and then all the sex had exhausted me. I didn't want to scrub Logan's scent from me, but I needed to clean myself. Wondering what Logan was doing. I finished bathing and then changed into a summer dress with a floral print.
After drying my hair, Debbie asked, "Do you want to leave your hair down, or would you like me to tie it?"
"Leave them down, Debbie," I replied, and she pulled away from me.
"Your Uncle is back and wishes to see you in his study," she said, arranging the cosmetics in my vanity bag.
My heart thudded against my ribcage. Why did Uncle want to see me? Did he suspect anything? I was unsure how he might react to my relationship with Logan if he found out. Henry was dating a commoner but she wasn't a bastard or was a kid to any of our house staff, still, Aunt Anne didn't approve of it.
I didn't want to hurt my Uncle and Aunt, but I couldn't give up Logan. He was everything that I had ever desired. I went to Uncle Edward's study with a sinking heart. He sat on his chair behind the desk, where Dad used to sit not very long ago.
Anger bubbled inside me at the memory of Dad and how he had wanted to keep Logan and me apart from each other. I could have texted and asked Logan about it, but I was too vain and didn't want to make him feel that I was desperate.
"There you are, Christina. How are you feeling now? Logan told me what happened yesterday," He said, looking up from his paper.
I stared at him, puzzled. Logan told me to keep everything a secret, so why did he tell my uncle about it?
"Do you want to see the doctor to ensure you didn't catch any infection from the rain?"
I gave out the breath that I was holding, strolled to his desk, and settled on a chair across from him. So he only told him about the condition I was in when he found me in the woods.
"I am okay. No need to call for the doctor," I assured.
"You sure?"
"Positive."
After some time, I left Uncle Edward's study and looked for Logan, but he was nowhere to be found. I settled at the piano to practice, and an hour or so might have passed when someone placed a gift box on the piano before me.
My eyes traveled from his hand to his face, and a smile broke on my lips when I met the familiar deep brown orbs.
"What's this?"
"A gift," he replied nonchalantly.
"I see that, what's inside it?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Why don't you check yourself?"
I stopped playing the piano and then picked up the gift box. I found the latest iPhone model inside when I unwrapped the gift paper around it.
"You didn't need to buy me a phone," I exclaimed.
Logan cupped my cheek and stroked his thumb on my lip, saying, "You gave me the biggest gift of my life. This is nothing compared to it."
Logan's eyes raged with his emotions for me, and I couldn't hold myself anymore. I pulled him to me and smashed my lips against his. Logan kissed me back with the same hunger but stopped and pulled away abruptly.
"We need to be careful," he reminded me.
"I want the whole world to know that you are mine," I wanted everyone to know how happy I was.
"We can't, Christina," Logan cautioned, "I don't want to lose you when I have just gotten you."
I nodded in agreement, understanding his need to be cautious. Belonging to aristocracy didn't come easy. One needed to follow too many protocols, especially if you were a Williams.
Logan and I spent the rest of the day together. We went horseback riding through the estate's grounds. Logan managed to tame the black stallion that Henry had bought recently. George was surprised a how soon Logan accomplished it, even though he had been trying for months.
We made love again at a secluded spot and in a small lake. It was like we couldn't get enough of each other.
"Are you on a pill?"
Logan asked me after we got out of the lake and were getting dressed.
"I have been on birth control since I turned eighteen," I replied, pulling up my pants.
Though I never thought of having sex, I assumed it was safer to be on birth control to avoid any complications. Pregnancy out of wedlock was the last thing that I wanted.
Logan helped me set up my new cell phone; by the time we returned home, it was time for dinner. I took a quick shower, and Debbie helped me get ready for dinner. My cousins and their girlfriends had returned from their trip and were present for dinner.
"How are you?" Julia asked me the moment I entered the dining room.
"I am good," I replied, settling on the chair beside her.
"So you and Logan alone in a cabin in the woods? Did you guys get some action?" She teased.
I rolled my eyes at her, though my heart jumped into my throat, "I had better things to do."
"Come on, I would totally do him if I weren't in love with Harold," she scoffed.
We both continued a light conversation throughout dinner about their trip, and Logan sneaked into my bedroom at night when everyone retired to their rooms.
"You are insatiable," I complained when he took me for the nth time that night.
My body was aching from the ordeal he made me go through. Logan was a beast in bed, and though I enjoyed every bit of the sex, I was not pleased with how exhausted I was.
"Only for you, darling," he kissed me.
"Logan?"
Hmmm?"
"Thank you for being there for me," I murmured, snuggling to his side.
Logan rolled to his side and stared into my eyes. "You will always find me at your side, Christina. The world will have to go through me before they could hurt you," his voice promised, and I knew he would go through fire for me and I for him.
My naive self didn't have the least idea that a day would come when Logan would be the one to hurt me.
