Christina
Logan????
How could I go to Logan, knowing he would ask me to be his mistress in return for helping save Aiden? I even doubted if he would ever agree to help save my son. From what I had sensed, he hated that I had a son. It would be impossible for him to want to help me save him.
"I told you, there is nothing between him and me apart from a professional relationship," I lied because it was my only option.
"I don't have such a large amount of cash. I would need to liquidate my assets for it, which is impossible at the moment," Jonathan uttered, staring at me with sympathy.
"Please, you need to help me. Otherwise, they will kill my son," I screamed in helplessness.
"I am sorry, Christina, I could help you go to the police. I can even pressure them to find your son as soon as possible, but I can't give you five million. It's a lot of money, even if you are willing to be my wife," Jonathan expressed coldly.
I felt someone mercilessly squeeze my heart in their hand. Jonathan was my only hope, and he had refused to help me.
What would I do?
How would I save Aiden?
"Please, I beg you," a sob escaped my mouth even though I tried to choke it.
I expected Jonathan to help me after I agreed to do anything he asked me, but it seemed he valued money more than me.
What did I expect? Jonathan could buy thousands of women with five million dollars. He was only after me because I was an easy target. I worked at his firm, and he could exploit me as he wished.
"I am sorry, Christina. I really am, but honestly, you are not worth five million dollars," his voice was detached.
I felt as if someone turned a bucket of ice-cold water on me. The pain was so intense as if a million needles pierced through my body. I was left horrified at Jonathan's admission. I knew that I wasn't worth five million dollars, but to hear it from a man who pursued me as a man possessed for the past year left me shattered.
How could Jonathan be so heartless? He knew my son could get killed, but still, he refused to help me. I realized why all his wives left him. Jonathan was a heartless bastard; indeed, no woman in her right mind would want to stay with him after knowing his true nature.
Still, I begged him to help me, but he refused again and asked me to leave his house. The only help he offered was to go to the police with me, but if I wanted their help, I would have gone to them myself instead of coming to him.
When Jonathan didn't agree, even after my pleading, I had no option but to leave his house. George and Pol called on my cell, but I ignored their calls. What would I say to them?
I failed to convince my boss, and there was no way I could save Aiden.
I walked without any sense of direction. Tears trickled down my face constantly. I halted when my foot hit something on the pavement. Looking around, I realized I stood in front of Logan's building. Even though I didn't want to ask him for help, my subconscious led me to him.
I kept staring at his building, weighing all my options. After Jonathan's refusal, I had no one left to ask for help other than Logan. But why would Logan agree to save my son? I knew he wanted me, and Jonathan did too, but five million was a lot.
Even if Logan offered to take care of Mom's hospice care expenses, it didn't mean he would give me five million to help save Aiden. I would have stood there, staring at the building, if not for someone calling my name.
