I stepped into the bar and looked around for Jeremy. I found him sitting at the counter typing on his cell phone. I made my way to him through the crowd. A football game was playing on the screen, and a vast crowd had assembled to watch the game.

My cell vibrated in my hand, and I checked it to find a text from Jeremey inquiring if I would be late. I called him earlier today and asked him to meet me for drinks. It was Friday, and I left work earlier than usual as Logan had not been in the office. He went to France on Tuesday night and didn't return until today, and I was praying he wouldn't return anytime soon.

The past three days swept by smoothly in his absence. Even Jonathan didn't bother me, which was close to a miracle. After his threat last week, I was dreading he would ask me for an answer. Maybe Logan's absence had eased him for the time being.

Jeremy noticed me then and waved at me to come to him. I covered the remaining distance between us and settled on a barstool beside him.

"Hi," I greeted him.

"Hey," Jeremy greeted, "how was your day?" Then asked, grinning.

"It was good," I replied, smiling, "What about you?"

"Well, I just couldn't stop grinning the whole day. The woman I had lost all hope in called and asked me to meet for drinks," he teased.

I gave out a throaty laugh at his words, and he stared at me, mesmerized, "You have a beautiful laugh," he remarked, and I blushed.

Jeremy was the kind of man who didn't shy away from giving compliments. I liked that quality about him. He was so easygoing and cheerful, the opposite of Logan's intense nature.

I scolded myself for thinking about Logan again. Would I ever be able to get out of Logan's spell?

"Thanks," I said when I noticed him still staring at me.

"I couldn't believe you were here," he said with a dreamy expression.

I needed to clear up his misunderstanding about my reason for meeting him. He thought I was interested in him, while I was only there because of Aiden.

"I am sorry to disappoint you, but I am not here for the reason you are assuming. I am here because of my son," I started but was interrupted by him in the middle.

"What?" He sounded confused.

"Jeremy, I want you to teach my son to play football," I told him honestly.

"Wow," he looked short of words, "you do know how to break a heart," then added disappointedly.

If only he knew how good I was at breaking hearts and how I had been paying for it for the past few weeks.

"I am sorry, Jeremy. I should have cleared this for you earlier. But I thought of meeting you and asking personally if you will teach Aiden," I placed my hand over his on the bar counter, trying to stop him from leaving.

"I don't know what to say. Someone so hot and beautiful asks me to have drinks with her and then tells me it was not about us but about her son. I do need some time to get over my disappointment and process this," he said calmly, but his expressions were anything but calm.

I guess I hurt him more than I thought. It would have been better if I had asked him on the phone.

"I don't know anyone who trains kids in football that I trust. You are the only person I can ask this favor from," I pressed his hand with mine, trying to make him understand how much it meant to me.

"And now she makes me feel good again," he commented teasingly.

I sighed in relief that he wasn't offended. If Jeremy wouldn't have agreed to train Aiden, he would have been very disappointed. And there was nothing that bothered me more than seeing my boy disappointed about something.

"So, will you train him?" I asked enthusiastically.

"How can I say no to someone so amazing as you?" Jeremy said, tucking a stray strand of my hair behind my ear.

His fingers grazed my earlobe, and I felt soft sparks erupt from his touch. I leaned back immediately, pulling my hand from above his.

"Thank you so much," my voice was full of gratitude.

"You can bring him to the Park early morning tomorrow," Jeremy said and gave me the park's address.

We had a couple of drinks while watching the football game. I didn't know much about American football, being born and raised in England. Jeremy explained the game's rules, and I began to enjoy it. If Aiden was to play football, I needed to learn it to understand when he was playing.

Jeremy dropped me home as it got late. I thanked him again for taking Aiden under his wing and headed upstairs to my apartment. Tomorrow, I had to take Aiden to the park for practice. I was more excited for him than ever for something I wanted to learn.

I didn't even realize when Aiden became the most important person in my life. All my thoughts and decisions revolved around him. Kids change our lives just by existing, and I realized it after Aiden's birth.

Aiden and I left for the park early in the morning. He was practically bouncing all through the way. I was glad to see him so excited about something in a very long time.

Jeremy was present in the Park as promised, training kids how to make a throw. There were kids of Aiden's age, and a few were older.

"Hey, Champ," Jeremy did a fist pump with Aiden after I introduced him.

"Hi," Aiden beamed at him.

"Ready for the practice?" He inquired.

"Yes," Aiden cried out in excitement.

I settled on a bench nearby as Jeremey trained with the kids. He was good with kids. I had to give him that. All his pupils looked in awe of him. The expressions of admiration and adoration on their faces for their coach were a clear sign of it.

"Mom, I want ice cream," Aiden said, running towards me.

"You want ice cream?"

"Yes, Mom, please, can me and my friends have one?" He gave me puppy eyes, and it was almost impossible for me to decline the request.

"Okay," I will get you all ice cream.

I found an ice cream cart nearby and waited in the queue as a few people stood ahead while watching the kids from there.

Aiden made a throw, and given his inexperience, it went in a different direction than intended and hit someone on the shoulder.

Ohh, God.

I was about to hurry towards the man to apologize when he turned, and my heart stopped.

Logan.
