Logan
Christina sensed my intentions and tried to free herself of my hold, but I only tightened my grip, "Don't forget you are still bound by the contract, Darling. I have every right over you and your body."
She gasped and cowered into herself at my statement. It elated my bruised ego that she was aware of what I could do to her if I wanted to. When it came to Christina, I couldn't stop myself from wanting her. The only reason I restrained myself from excising my rights over her was that I didn't want to be led by my dick.
I dropped my hand from her chin before my cock got any ideas and then stepped inside my office, slamming the door in her face. Sighing, I walked to my desk and then slumped on the chair.
Back-to-back meetings and calls kept me busy for most of the morning. Bertha called me before lunchtime and asked if she could take Aiden to a park to cheer him up. It seemed like a good idea and would divert Aiden from missing Christina. I permitted her and called the driver to take her and Aiden to the park.
It was after some minutes that I needed a file and called Christina on the intercom. She didn't answer, and I made a call to HR. The HR department manager informed me that Christina had an emergency and she left a few minutes ago. I wouldn't have paid attention if the file wasn't essential and called Christina on her cell.
She received the call after a few rings, "I informed the HR before leaving," her panicked voice sounded on the other side.
"I know you informed them, but you are my assistant, and you need to get permission from me," I grumbled with a clenched jaw.
"Do you need anything, Mr. De La Roche?"
"What emergency are you having now?" I couldn't help asking.
"My mother isn't well," she replied.
"I needed the file on the Parker project," I said, rubbing my hands on my face.
"Oh, I will call Joan and tell her to give you the file."
"Do it immediately," I said and disconnected the call.
Until Joan brought the file, I decided to call Talia. It had been a while since I last spoke to her. I dialed her and then waited for her to receive the call. Talia picked up after a few rings.
"Hi," I greeted.
"Hi," she replied dryly.
"How are you?" I asked, ignoring her dry tone.
"Good," she answered in the same tone.
"And the baby?"
"That's none of your business, Logan," she barked.
"For God's sake, Talia. I am trying," I lashed out but couldn't complete my sentence because she interrupted me with an equally aggressive tone, "Why are you calling, Logan?"
I sighed, then rubbed my hands on my face, trying to calm my anger, "Look, Talia, I am sorry for what happened. I didn't mean to hurt you.".
"Then what did you expect, Logan?" She retorted, "You will parade her in front of everyone, and no one will find out?"
"We have discussed this, Talia," I groaned.
"No, we haven't, Logan. You expect me to believe whatever bullshit you feed me, while the information I receive is completely the opposite. It's like I don't even know who you are anymore. How could you even let her in your life after what she did to you?"
"Talia, I am not talking to you about this until we are face to face," I stated firmly.
"I will fly to Chicago if that's the case, but I need answers, Logan. You can't just block me out," Talia's voice had turned hoarse from the intensity of her anger.
I wonder how she and her parents might react if they learned about Aiden.
"I don't think you are allowed to travel so far in the pregnancy," I didn't want Talia to come to Chicago at any cost and find out about Aiden.
I had got a lot of shit ongoing already, and I didn't need her to hound me on top of it. I would have to tell her eventually, but I will do it on my terms. When I felt the time was right.
"I will not fly commercial and will have a doctor on board," she replied.
The fuck.
"You will not come here, Talia, if you know what's good for you," I warned her.
"Then stop fucking around with your whore and finish that damn project," Talia hissed.
I called Christina a whore countless times but listening to Talia call her one made my blood boil.
"You won't dare call her a whore again," I growled.
"You are raising your voice on me because of that bitch?" Talia exclaimed, aghast.
"I am not defending her, dammit," I objected.
"That's not what it sounded like," she spat.
"She means nothing, Talia. Not anymore," I said, softening my voice.
"Then kick her out of the company and promise not to see her ever again. Otherwise, the next thing I do is to fly to Chicago," she asserted and disconnected the call.
I rubbed my temples with my fingers and cursed myself for calling Talia. I was already exhausted from handling Aiden, and the fight with Talia drained me further.
Christina
I slipped my cell back into my handbag and sighed in relief. I hadn't expected Logan would need me when I left the office. The way he avoided me for two days, I thought he wouldn't care if I left early.
I called and informed Joan about the file's whereabouts and asked her to deliver it to Logan immediately. She assured me she would take care of it, and I didn't need to worry. I told her I left early to meet Aiden and that I made an excuse to HR before I left the office.
Bertha called me and said she would bring Aiden to the park and that if I wanted to meet him, I could come there. I thanked her for the nth time for doing it for me. She called me last night and told me that Aiden was missing me a lot and that he hadn't taken my absence well.
My heart ached for my boy, who struggled to cope with my absence. I had been so angry at Logan that I wanted to kill him. In his rage, he overlooked how Aiden got affected by the circumstances we were caught in.
Logan had the right to be enraged, and I was ready to bear any punishment he deemed fit. But he hurt Aiden, and I couldn't forgive him for that.
I informed HR and left immediately. On the way to the park, I bought donuts from Aiden's favorite bakery. Bertha told me he wasn't eating well, which added to my concern for him.
I reached the park and searched for Aiden and Bertha and spotted them after a few minutes. Aiden was busy playing football while Bertha sat on a bench under the tree.
Without wasting any time, I made my way toward them, and the moment Aiden noticed me, he dropped the football from his hand and rushed to me.
I dropped to my knees, placed the box of donuts on my side, and spread my arms for Aiden. He ran toward me with excitement and longing bubbling in his chocolate brown eyes. Watching Aiden run to me, I realized how much I had missed him, his smile, his conversations, everything about him.
My eyes were fixed on Aiden, oblivious to our surroundings to the extent that I missed someone approaching us from the right. By the time I realized what was happening, my view of Aiden was obstructed by a pair of legs when Aiden was only a mere foot away from me.
My heart hammered against my rib cage as my eyes traveled from the man's legs to his torso and then face. Logan glared down at me with immense hatred.
"Surprised, darling? He questioned with an evil smirk.
