"i dont want you to go." laila whined.

i was standing in the mirror doing my hair while laila and tasia sat on the counter. they were sleepy but refused to go back to sleep. there was a knock at the door, tasia hopped down and went to get it.

"i know, baby, but i'll be back before you know it."

"how long will you be gone?"

"umm...about ten hours."

"TEN?! mommy thats alot"

"i know im sorry. im doing these things for you, though. you know i hate to be away from you, and i know it makes you sad to be away from me, but it'll all be worth it in the end, i promise, okay?"

tears rolled down from her eyes, "o-okay."

"hey, don't cry." i picked her up, and she wrapped her arms around my neck. i cried right with her, "i love you, jellybean."

"i-i love you too, m-mommy."

"RAJI! LAILA!" tab said as she entered the bathroom.

"hey tab!"

"hey boo!! its your first day!"

"it is!"

"ye–whats the matter with laila?"

"she doesn't want me to go."

"separation anxiety?"

"yeah, even at the shelter, it was hard leaving her there at first, but i learned that she has to be occupied until she falls asleep or she'll just cry for me until i arrive."

"oh thats not a problem. there's a lot of fun things to do, she'll never get bored with me ask tasia."

"this woman never gets tired. thats all ill tell you."

"i could either work or party my life away, doesn't matter. anyway, don't worry, she'll be fine."

"okay, and as far as her condition ma–"

tasia spoke, cutting me off, "check her sugar before and after bedtime. also, check for shaking, sweating, hunger, mood changes, paleness, weakness, fast heartbeat, and headache. if any of those are occurring, the quickest way to solve it is by testing her blood sugar, giving her sugar, and then checking her blood sugar again fifteen minutes after giving her something sweet. if something isn't right afterward, then we'll seek medical attention."

i was impressed, and by the look on tab's face, so was she.

"how'd you..."

"i pay attention and listen to everything. its almost time. we should get going."

"i will take the sleeping beauty." tab said, referring to a sleeping laila. i kissed her head and gave her to tab, "good luck on your first day."

"thank you." with that, she left out. my focus was now on the finest woman ive ever seen. i walked between her legs and rested my hands on her thighs, "that was impressive."

"well, i want you to know that she's in the best of hands while youre gone, and i didn't want you worrying yourself while you're working. last night when you were staring off into space worried me a little."

"it was what she said. she didn't tell me she was feeling bad because she didn't want me to worry about her. it scared me."

"i know. we'll work through it together, i promise. she'll be fine, okay? dont worry yourself."

"okay, ill try."

"mmkay, let's go."

"you're talking about let's go. why aren't you dressed for work?"

"they have to be on time, not me."

"cocky much?"

"very."

we were at the front door. i didnt wanna say goodbye, "ill see you later, beauty."

"this is the part im not ready for."

"laila two point o. come here" she wrapped her arms around my neck and hid her face in the crease of my neck, "hey, ill be back in no time–well ten hours, but still."

"yeah, thats ten hours too long. will you facetime me on your break?"

"of course."

she popped her head up and pecked my lips over and over, "okay, have a good d– oh wait, i packed you lunch."

she ran back to the kitchen and brought back a blue lunchbag with my initials at the bottom of it.

"thank you. when did you get this made?"

"the day after you got the job. i did that so no one would steal it and claim it as theirs."

"i love it, thank you." i leaned in to kiss her, "alright, i really have to go. see you guys later."

"later!"
