"What did he say to you?" Loki asked almost immediately as Giuseppe left.
"Oh he was just joking around." I shook my head, smiling weakly.
"You sure?" He pressed. "You look a little shaken."
"Stop being overprotective." I tried to joke, reaching out to squeeze his hand. "He was just joking around."
"You know I can't help it." He squeezed my hand back before he looked down at the box of croissants. "Do you want me to put these away for now?"
"Yes please." I nodded, smiling softly and watching in awe as with a flash of green under the table, the box disappeared. I never knew were all of the stuff went that he made disappear, and he didn't either, but they always appeared in the exact same condition again when he wanted them.
"Do you want to head back or should we wander around for a little?" He asked, standing up and brushing crumbs off his clothes.
"I think maybe we should head back." I smiled, slipping my hand into his as we began to walk out of sight. "I'm still tired."
He chuckled softly and guided us to a secluded area before we teleported back into the compound.

"You've got chocolate on your face again." Loki huffed out a laugh as I took another bite into the croissant in front of me, the warm filling dripping down my chin and onto the plate.
I shot him a deadpanned look and immediately tried to wipe it off my skin, swallowing my mouthful of food.
"These things are impossible to eat." I huffed out once my mouth was clear. "They are so messy."
"Then go for something easier to eat." He chuckled.
"No." I answered almost immediately. "These are too good."
He huffed out another laugh and shook his head, taking a bite of his own food. Giuseppe hadn't stop hounding me with new foods he was trying ever since I took the first lot back to the compound and I swear the container grew each time. He still wasn't letting me pay either, as much as I tried to get him to take the money.
"You look beautiful today." Loki murmured as we wandered around the streets after eating.
"Thank you." I smiled up at him, blushing softly and squinting against the bright sunlight, causing him to chuckle softly. "I don't think I did any thing different." I looked down at the clothes I had chosen; loose flowing pants and a knitted long sleeve shirt.
"You look beautiful every day." He gently brought my chin back up to him and my heart stuttered in my chest as we stopped walking.
"T-thank you." I stumbled over my words slightly. It wasn't like I was not use to his affection by now, it just always seemed to catch me off guard.
"You're so shy." He chuckled, and I blushed even more, but I couldn't look away from the humor sparkling in his green eyes. "Can I kiss you?"
I was startled by the sudden request but I managed to squeak out a small "Yes."
"Are you sure?" He smiled, sweeping some of my hair back behind my ears. "You seem a little uncertain."
I knew he was always treading on thin ice around me, especially with topics like this, and I hated that he had to constantly question himself and his actions just to keep me happy. So I reached out before I could even question my own movements and brought his head down as I stood up on my tip-toes to kiss him softly. His lips curved against mine and his hands gently threaded together behind my back to tug me closer. I stumbled forward slightly, my eyes closed, and he pulled back, chuckling softly before I tugged him back in again.
"You're getting brave." He eventually pulled away from me, his lips curved into a grin as my eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Is that a good thing?" I asked uncertainly.
"Of course." He nodded, straightening and keeping his hand on my back as he gently set us walking again. "It's good to see you come out of your shell. I love you any kind of way, but seeing you like this is nice."
"I'll try to do it more often." I murmured, now thoroughly embarrassed as I looked down at the ground.
"Not that I'm complaining." He chuckled as we moved towards a secluded spot to teleport back. "But I don't want you to feel like you have to do anything you don't want to."
"I want to." I shook my head, looking up at him with a timid smile as the blush still heated my cheeks.
"Well, well, look who it is." A voice spoke up and I barely got the opportunity to turn around to see who is was before Loki shoved me behind his back. But I didn't need to see who it was to recognise the voice.
Strucker.
Loki's hands, which were braced on my shoulder, began to glow green and I braced myself for the teleporting, but before he could get us out of there, a sharp round of gunshots rang through the air and Loki collapsed a couple of seconds later. A horrible sound tore out of my mouth as I dropped to my knees next to him, desperately trying to hold in the blood that was spilling out from him at an alarming rate.
"We didn't expect for you to have an admirer." Strucker chuckled as his boots slowly walked towards me, kneeling down in front of Loki's rasping body. "It's shocking how you even got one in the first place."
He sharply grabbed my chin, jerking my head up to look at him hard enough that my neck twinged. I gritted my teeth and drew up on the fire that was thrashing around in my stomach, immediately burning his hand through the leather of his glove. He sharply tugged his hand back with a hiss before chuckling roughly, malice coating the sound.
"Good to see you haven't lost your temper." He shook off his hand, smoke gently winding up from him. "We won't have to start from square one at least." I didn't think I was showing any other emotion on my face apart from pure anger, but I must have because his smirk twisted even more. "Oh come on. You didn't honestly think we had forgotten about you, did you?"
Loki shuddered under my bloody hands and my eyes immediately flicked back to him. I didn't know how I wasn't crying, I could feel the lump building up in my throat and choking me, but not a single tear slipped out. Maybe I was in shock. I hadn't had that happen in a little while.
"You've gotten too relaxed B12." He slowly stood up, walking backwards and forwards slowly in front of me. "We've been watching you and you have grown weak." My heart dropped at the thought of them constantly watching us. "It's like you think you've beaten us." He huffed out another scornful laugh. "What do we always say about that?"
I clenched my jaw and stayed silent, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of my answer. I kept my head down and stared at the blood staining the concrete as my trembling hands tried to desperately stop the amount of blood seeping out of Loki.
"Answer me!" Strucker suddenly snapped, his uninjured hand flying across my cheek and sending me sprawling across the concrete before I could even register what was going on.
"Don't underestimate your opponent." I gritted out as I tasted blood fill my mouth as I accidentally bit down on my tongue.
"And what did you do?" His eyes bored into my head as I slowly pushed myself back up, my hands shakily threading with Loki's.
"Big mistake." He chuckled darkly before gesturing for the agents behind him to step forward.
I drew up my fire as best as I could but before I could even hit one of them, green surrounded both me and Loki and we sharply disappeared.
