I felt like a drunk idiot by the time that our pod was opened up and we stepped out. The adrenaline coursing through my system was making every part of my body feel jumpy and full of energy. Loki chuckled as he steadied me as we stepped out of the pod, my legs forgetting how to work for a moment. My head would not stop pounding and I felt so lightheaded with the butterflies looping through my stomach.

"You promise you're okay?" He asked his eyes still flicking over my face.

"I'm more than okay." I squeezed his hand softly as I slipped my hand into his steading grip.

"What do you want to tell the others?" He asked as he gently began to lead me into the carpark.

"I..." I hesitated, the thought having not even crossed my mind.

"There's no pressure to say anything." He shook his head, eyes dropping to our joined hands before he looked back straight ahead. "I mean, we don't have to talk about what we are or anything right now, so you don't really owe it to them to tell you anything."

"I think I might just wait a little." I murmured, nodding. "I know how they will probably get when I tell them, especially Nat and Wanda, so... I think I might wait until the time is right."

"Then I will wait to tell Thor." He nodded, squeezing my hand before he slowly untangled out fingers.

"You're actually going to tell Thor?" I looked up at him in surprise and he looked down at me with a raised eyebrow. "Well its just that I thought you would prefer to keep it to yourself."

"You don't know how much Thor has been pushing me to make a move on you." He huffed out a laugh, smiling softly. "And as much as I don't want to suffer under his reaction, I know he would be upset if I didn't tell him."

"You can tell him if you want." I offered. "Just... maybe tell him not to tell anyone else yet."

"No, it's okay." His hand on my back rubbed against my clothes soothingly. "We'll tell when you are ready."

"Thank you." I smiled up at him and let him squeeze my shoulder as we approached the car.

Bucky opened the door for us and we clambered inside as quietly as we could as he held a finger to his lips and pointed to the seat behind him. I looked over curiously and was that Nat and Steve had fallen asleep, Nat had her head on Steve's shoulder and his head was on top of hers. I grinned at Bucky and his lips twitched back as Loki and I shuffled into the spare seats. I made sure to take a photo of them both as quietly as possible, knowing that it would be a perfect form of blackmail later on.

The car started off and couldn't stop myself from resting my head against Loki's shoulder, the events of the whole day beginning to catch up with me. His fingers brushed against the side of my leg and I slowly let my hand drop down so it landed in his. His fingers brushed against mine, the touch soft and barely noticeable. Paired with the faint murmuring of the car, I could feel my eyelids begin to become heavier and I yawned softly.

"Its okay." Loki whispered softly to me, his breath brushing against my hair. "You don't need to stay awake."

"I'm fine." I shook my head, fighting back another yawn.

"Go to sleep Emily." I felt his chest rumble slightly as he chuckled.

I opened my mouth to say something else back but a yawn escaped me and he carefully wrapped an arm around me, the car too dark for any of the others to notice. Paired with the steady thumping of his heart under his jumper and the humming of the car, I couldn't stop myself from being lulled into a peaceful sleep.

LOKI POV

I didn't know what kind of Gods I managed to finally get on the good side of for this to happen. How did I manage to get this woman? How had I been so lucky? Surely they didn't think I deserved her, there was no way I did. She was so soft and fragile and trusting and I hated it because it felt like one wrong move and I was going to stuff everything up again and she didn't deserve that.

I had considered multiple times pulling away. It felt too soon to Christmas. I didn't know if she was still getting better from that. But then I wanted this, so, so, so badly. But then I felt selfish, I shouldn't be doing this because I wanted to, it should have been on her terms.

But then she had been the one to lean forward and actually kiss me first...

I looked down at her, my eyes taking in every inch of her peaceful, sleeping face that lit up as Pepper drove the car past the occasional street lamp. She was so fragile that I was scared my arm draped loosely around her side was going to crush her.

When Pepper eventually pulled the car to a stop. I carefully tightened both my arms around her to stop her from being jolted around too much. As Stark and Pepper climbed out, followed by Banner and Maximoff, I carefully cradled her to my chest and climbed out.

She was so light it almost felt like I was carrying nothing, though I was hyperaware of every movement I was making so I didn't wake her up. She was breathing so softly that sometimes I had to stare just to make sure she was still alive.

It was difficult to ignore the pointed looks that Stark was giving me or the promising-death glares from Barnes, and I was only motivated not to snap back at them knowing that it would wake Emily up.

I considered teleporting her up to her room, but I knew that would probably wake her too, so I braved the achingly long flight of steps that seemed to jolt every bone in my body with each step I took.

Getting her into bed was the hardest part. She stirred a couple of times as I tried to lower her down, but thankfully she didn't wake. I made sure all of the pillows around her were fluffed and comfortable before I draped several blankets over her small body, tucking them in.

I shut up all of the blinds, knowing that the sunlight would probably wake her too early in the morning, and made sure to clear away all of the clothes she had left scattered around the ground in her panic this morning to try and find something suitable to wear, not wanting her to trip on them when she woke up.

I carefully moved some of her hair out of her face as she slept and I couldn't help but press a gentle kiss to her forehead before I carefully crept out of her room and shut the door behind me.
