Things were slightly easier now that I had Loki with me again, but only slightly. I did feel like I had someone to talk to again, but... I still felt on edge, and I didn't know why. Training helped a lot, it provided a distraction, an outlet for all the endless buzzing energy inside me.

Nightmares were becoming a nightly occurrence, which Loki always came to help me out of. I felt guilty for constantly waking me up, but he kept insisting that he didn't sleep much anyway.

Aside from training, I didn't have much else to do. I didn't have much energy to do anything, nor the want to anything. I mostly sat on the couch and watched TV or played the Xbox. Thor even tried to teach me some Asgardian card games, which I struggled to wrap my head around. The others were trying to get me up and doing things, but sometimes, I wouldn't have minded a little space.

"Can everyone quiet down for a moment?" Tony called out loudly one day over the top of the conversations around the table, everyone slowly falling silent. "I have decided to go out for a day trip."

Everyone who wasn't paying attention immediately looked up. It was rare for Tony to let us out of the compound, something about the press and paparazzi. We only ever got to go shopping, and even then he preferred when we did it online.

"Where too?" Wanda asked curiously.

"A pop-up amusement park has been set up not far from here." He grinned. "I thought we could make a day of it."

"When are we going?" Nat was grinning now too.

"Today." Tony shrugged, standing up with his empty plate. "After you've all finished eating. I thought it might help a couple of people to get out."

He moved behind me and gently squeezed my shoulders, causing me to smile up at him weakly.

"Thank you." I murmured.

"Don't thank me." He shrugged. "It was Pep's idea."

Pepper smiled from where she was sitting on the left of me, reaching out to gently rub her hand over mine that was resting on my knee.

I hadn't been to an amusement park before, I had only heard about them in the books that I read in the library. Loki had tried to give the best description of them as he could, but even he had admitted that he hadn't been one before. I knew they had to be good though, judging by the excitement now sparking in the air.

I had no clue what to wear and spent a fair ten minutes just standing in front of my cupboard, eyes scanning over all of my clothes. I didn't know what I was going to be doing at this amusement park, which made it extremely difficult to pick. Eventually, I had to settle for sandy coloured cargo pants and a long sleeve top to cover up the scars on my arms which I swore had only gotten more noticeable. I was praying it wasn't suddenly going to become hot in it or the other winter gear I was wearing because I did not want to put my scars on display. I hurriedly braided my hair as I walked down the stairs, afraid I had kept the others waiting, but it was only the girls, Steve and Bucky and Loki, who were sitting as far away as possible from each other.

"You look nice Emily." Steve smiled as I walked over to the couch, nervously smoothing down my pants.

"Thanks." I smiled weakly, heavily sitting down on the couch next to Loki. "I had no clue what to wear because I didn't know what the weather was going to be like. I was going to wear a short-sleeved shirt, but then my arms looked bad in it. Then I thought of jeans, but they were all in the wash, and then I was going to wear a yellow top, but it matched too much with the cargos and –"

"You would have looked beautiful in anything." Loki interrupted and my eyes snapped up to his to see him smiling down at me gently, his arm resting behind me as he squeezed my shoulder comfortingly.

"Thank you." I smiled up at him, leaning into his touch a little.

Someone snorted from the kitchen and I looked over my shoulder sharply to see Nat standing there, a big grin on her face as she leant against the bench with her arms crossed, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Oh please." I flushed bright red, fighting the urge to hide under the pillows. "You can talk." I looked over at Steve, who was listening to Bruce while drinking a cup of coffee before I looked back at her and raised my eyebrows, causing her to go bright red instead.

"Is everyone ready?" Tony interrupted just before Nat could fire something else at me. "We need to leave if we want to beat the traffic."

Everyone quickly gathered up their stuff, Tony holding the door open for them, but just as I stepped through with Loki, he held out his arm, stopping me. Loki immediately bristled, spinning back around as soon as I was stopped.

"Go with the others Reindeer Games," Tony shot him a look. "I'll protect your girl for a moment."

Both Loki and I immediately opened our mouths to protest, but Tony just shooed Loki on until it was just the two of us standing at the door.

"You know I'm not his girl." I sighed, wrapping my arms around myself as I felt my face burning red again.

"Keep telling yourself that." Tony grinned and I did my best to glare at him, which just caused him to huff out a laugh. "It's fine kiddo, do what you want. Loki is a good guy, he's good for you."

"Please tell me you didn't stop me just to give me a relationship talk." I felt like I was going to shrivel up in embarrassment.

"No." He chuckled again. "I wanted to give you something." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a brand-new white phone. "I've fully updated it to Stark Technology, so you have the best of the best. Its got high levels of security too, so no one can track your or try to call you on it, except if they're one of those idiots out there." He nodded his head to the slowly disappearing Avengers as they headed towards the garage. "I've also given it the highest camera and sound quality that I can, since I know how much you love to take photos and videos. You'll especially want to take some today. I can also easily change the colour of it if you don't like it."

"It's perfect." I whispered, staring at the phone in his outstretched hand. "Thank you Tony." I couldn't stop myself from lurching forward and wrapping my arms around him in the tightest hug I could muster.

"It's okay kiddo." He wrapped his arm around me too, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "I'm glad you like it." He slowly pulled away from me and held it back out. "I've also tried to make it as durable as possible, but that doesn't mean you can be throwing it around everywhere, okay?"

"Of course not." I shook my head, slowly taking the phone from his hand, holding it like it was fragile glass. "Thank you so much."

He just smiled back and gentlynudged me out of the front door, which JARVIS immediately locked and turneddark as we walked to catch up to the others.
