Recommended Song: If I could Fly (One Direction)
"Okay." I giggled, sliding off the barstool as he offered his hand to me.
I stumbled slightly, the whole room spinning around me a little as I wobbled in my heels.
"You really have had too much." He murmured, quickly reaching out to steady by putting a hand on my back.
Despite the alcohol coursing through my system, I still managed to flinch slightly in his touch, my eyes darting up to him. However, he didn't seem to notice, instead mistaking it for more unsteadiness.
"Don't worry, I've got you." He chuckled softly, gently leading me towards the floor as Bruce watched me worriedly, Thor just grinning.
As soon as we got to the dance floor, that was was bustling with people, the song playing suddenly got changed to a much slower one, causing both of us to look over at the main music control to see Tony standing there, grinning. I immediately waved at him, my movements a little more sluggish now, Loki just rolling his eyes.
"Have you ever danced before?" He asked, looking back down at me with a small smile on his lips.
"No." I looked back up at him, shaking my head, which cause my head to ache slightly. "It can't be difficult to learn though, could it?"
"You put your left hand on my shoulder." Loki chuckled slightly, moving slightly closer to me so I could reach his shoulder. "And I put my right hand just here."
He put his hand just near my shoulder blade and I stiffened only slightly, the reaction seeming completely instinctual now, even though I could feel my movements slowly becoming more delayed and sluggish.
"And you hold my hand." He held up his left hand a little and I put my right hand in it, taking a deep breath as he wrapped his much larger fingers over the top.
"See?" I put a smile on my face, trying to hide my uncomfortableness. "It wasn't that difficult."
"Now we step in a box shape." Loki chuckled, still looking down at me. "So when I step towards you, you take a step back. Then you step to the right, which means I step to my left. There you go, that's it."
I had been hesitantly taking the steps as he instructed, and couldn't help but grin up at him as he complemented me. He continued to instruct me and I began to get the hang of it, moving around the dance floor with confidence, somehow managing not to hit all of the other dance partners. I could feel the alcohol beginning to affect me a little more as we moved around, but still managed to reply somewhat steadily when he spoke throughout the song. When it eventually stopped, I let go of Loki's hand and dropped my arm from his shoulder
"That was fun." I grinned up at him, causing him to smile softly. "Come on, let's go get a drink."
I had been planning to get a glass of water, but when I spotted a waiter carrying flutes of champagne, I ditched the water plan and drowned another glass of champagne before Loki could stop me. He sighed softly and I looked up at him with a grin.
"Oi Emily!" Yelled a voice over music that had turned back into blaring Christmas music. "Want to come play a round of pool?"
I looked over in the direction of the voice and saw Steve waving at me, with Bucky and more people I didn't recognise standing around a green velvet table.
"Sure!" I grinned, quickly handing my empty glass to Loki before making my way over to the table. "How do I play?"
I kind of regretted that question in the end. Bucky and Steve, being the old men they were, absolutely bombarded me with all of the rules about pool, all of which pretty went over my head, not helped by the alcohol. I versed Steve the first round, Bucky, Loki and all the other people standing around chatting, or in Loki's case, just watching . I think Steve may have tried to go easy on me, but I still failed horribly, getting the black 8 ball in a hole on what I think was my fourth hit. Steve let me have another go and I did a little better, but he still beat me.
"I'm gonna go get some fresh air." I announced after my second round, handing the pool stick to one of the unfamiliar people who stepped closer.
I am not sure if the alcohol was finally affecting me or if it was just the adrenaline, but I found the room becoming quite hot and the long sleeves of my dress weren't helping. The guys tried to challenge be to another round, but I just waved them off. I weaved my way through the crowd of people until I reached the outside of the compound, which was surprisingly empty, but I assumed they might all be at the main entrance instead. I flicked a stray strand of hair over my shoulder and leaned against the compound wall, relishing the cool breeze that tickled my cheeks. I looked up at the half moon in the sky and couldn't help but smile.
"Finally sick of the party?" Asked a voice and I looked over my shoulder to see Loki walking over to me, a small smile on his lips.
"No." I grinned back at him, blinking to get rid of his two heads. "I don't think I ever will be."
"Stark certainly knows how to throw a party doesn't he?" He chuckled. "Can't say I'm a fan of them though, too much noise and too many people."
"I just don't think you are much of a party animal." I laughed.
"Well you certainly are." He smiled down at me. "Thor might be slightly right about you being able to tolerate the drinks, I don't know how you haven't collapsed yet."
"I'm close to." I chuckled, adjusting my grip on the balcony railing.
"Let me help that." He smiled, reaching out with his fingers and placing them on my temple as there was a flash of green before I was instantly hit with a wave of energy. I stumbled and he chuckled, steadying me a little.
"Better?" He asked, his eyes darting over my face.
"Much." I breathed out heavily, nodded. "Thank you."
He simply smiled and I turned back to look back out at the forest, turning my eyes up to the moon that hung in the sky, illuminating me faintly in the white light. He eventually turned his head and looked up at it too.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I smiled, causing him to look back over at me, his hand reaching out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear.
"It is." Loki nodded, continuing to look down at me with a smile playing on his lips. "I didn't get the chance you tell you before, but... you look really beautiful tonight."
"Thanks Loki." I smiled, looking down as blush creeped along my cheeks as I looked down.
"I'm serious." He smiled. "Don't look away."
He slowly reached out and gently put a finger under my chin, lifting my head back up, causing me to meet his green eyes that roamed over my face. I stiffened slightly, but when I looked at him, he was still smiling softly, no hint of malice in his eyes that shone in the moonlight. He gently tucked another strand of hair behind my ear and put his hand on my cheek, his skin cold against my heated cheeks as I swallowed thickly. Butterflies began to loop around in my stomach, my heart pounding against my chest as my lips parted slightly.
"Loki." I breathed, my words catching in my throat slightly as he smiled softly.
"It's okay." He murmured, his breath soft on my lips as he began to lean down.
His eyes darting between my own, his throat bobbing as he swallowed. I stood there, frozen, trying to process everything, unable to believe what was happening. His eyes briefly flickered down to my lips, his body coming closer as he tilted my chin up a little, a smirk playing on his lips a little as I blushed even more. He slowly brought his head down and very slowly, the seconds passing achingly slow, his cold lips pressed against my warm ones and my eyes fluttered shut.
