"So why were you holding her hand?
Is that the way we stand?"

March 4, 2005

"It's my birthday, bitch!" Grace squealed as she entered my kitchen.

"Happy birthday, bitch!" I laughed, pulling her into a hug.

"Gracelyn, pet," Mam beamed, "Happy birthday, love!"

"Thank you, queen," Grace grinned, "You're definitely in my top three favourite women."

Mam laughed, returning to icing the cake she had baked Grace.

"Aren't you going to wish me a happy birthday, daddy Kavanagh?" Grace wiggled her brows at my father.

My father sighed and muttered, "Happy birthday, Gracelyn."

"Shite, it's Grace's birthday?" Declan's eyes widened as he entered the kitchen, tossing his hurling gear onto the floor.

"Yes it is, eejit," Grace rolled her eyes, "It's the most important day of the year, how could you forget?"

"Oops," He shrugged, "Can I have a piece of that cake, Mam?"

"That's my birthday cake, fatty," Grace scoffed, "So, you can have a piece when you get me a present."

Johnny barreled into the kitchen less than a minute later with a slight limp.

"Happy birthday, Gracie," He smiled, "I'd hug you but I'm sweaty from training."

"I'm perfectly fine with sweat," Grace was quick to blurt out as she practically tackled him to the ground with the force of her hug.

Declan and I exchanged looks of disgust.

"So, Gracelyn," Mam smiled, "What are you getting up to tonight?"

Knowing Grace she'd have plans to force me out of the house and go 'man hunting' with her.

Which I did not want to participate in.

"I'm taking Addy out on the town," She grinned evilly, "We are going to find hot, rich men to dance with." She paused and looked at Johnny, "Unless, Johnny wants to come as well."

"Oh, absolutely not," Johnny shook his head, "I'm not spending my Friday night getting drunk with the pair of ye!"

"Johnny," I whined, "Please! It'll be fun."

I normally wouldn't beg my older brother to come out with me, but I didn't want to go man hunting. I was scared of men.

And besides, the only man I wanted was Gerard Gibson.

"Come on!" I continued, "And Dec, you can come too! It can be like sibling bonding!"

"Grace isn't our sibling," Declan pointed out and I glared at him.

"She basically is," I rolled my eyes.

"I am most definitely not Johnny's sister!" She gaped.
