One of my favourite parts of winning rugby matches was the celebration afterwards.

Since we had just won against Kilbeg, the team and a few others were all crammed in Hughie Biggs sitting room.

I was a few drinks in but I could feel the weird energy radiating off of Addy. She was all jumpy and quiet, both things she usually wasn't.

Since Ronan got in her face, she had been acting off and then when we got to Hughie's she seemed...scared?

I couldn't explain it but she was acting different.

I told her nearly a hundred times we didn't have to go to this. Ronan had made her cry and I was more than happy to hangout at home with her, and Grace had offered the same. But Addy insisted she wanted to come.

"Ads, you're sure you're alright?" I asked for the millionth time, my arm wrapped around her shoulders.

"Yeah," She nodded, hugging herself with her own arms.

"We can leave," I offered, "Just say the words and I'm ready."

"I'm okay," She shot out, sounding slightly hostile.

"Addy! Come dance!" Grace called from the middle of the room, drink in hand as she backed it up on William—a lad from the team.

"I'm good here," She laughed, leaning against me.

"Yeah, Addy, come dance," Ronan taunted as he passed.

"Keep fucking walking," I snapped, "Or I'll knock that smirk off your face."

Ronan rolled his eyes and walked off, disappearing into the kitchen. Thank god, because I meant what I said. I'd have no problem knocking him around if he kept bugging Addy.

"I really don't like that guy," Addy mumbled.

"That makes two of us, babe," I squeezed her arm softly, bringing her closer to my side.

"Yo, Gibs," Stephan grinned, coming over to high five me, "You played great, lad."

"Likewise," I nodded.

I felt Addy stiffen, before she practically bolted out of my grasp and made a beeline to the couch Johnny was sitting on.

"What's up with her?" Stephan asked, glancing in Adeline's direction.

"I don't know, lad," I shrugged, "She's probably just tired from dance."

Lie.

I knew for a fact that wasn't it. Addy's behaviour over the past month and a half had been completely unlike her. I was concerned, but every time anyone tried to ask what was wrong she got angry.

"Are you two an item?" He hummed.

I didn't like these questions he was asking. He seemed too interested in her. Even though she wasn't technically mine, I still considered her to be.
