ʚɞ Adeline ʚɞ

March 27, 2005

After standing in the rain for two hours the match was finally able to begin. Phone calls to the school board had been made, the rule book was brought out and several screaming matches between Mr. Mulcahy and Royce's coach had ensued and finally here we were.

Johnny had strolled onto the pitch with a smug smirk on his face, followed by Gerard who was waving frantically at me.

By halftime, Tommen was up 48-3. I had practically lost my voice from screaming like a crazy person.

Although I was immersed in the game, I could feel people's eyes on me and I hated it. I was used to getting stares, but not in this way.

Not when I knew they only saw me as the girl who was raped.

Feeling overwhelmed and like a panic attack was coming, I turned to Grace and Declan and mumbled, "I'm going to the bathroom."

"I can come with you," Grace nodded, looking from the pitch to me.

"No, no," I shook my head, "It's okay, I'll be quick."

"Are you sure?" Grace confirmed.

"Yes."

"You'll be okay?" Declan asked, moving to walk me to the bathroom.

"It's the bathroom, Dec. I'll be fine," I mentally rolled my eyes.

I didn't need to be escorted everywhere. I was still me, even if I was a less stable version.

Pushing through the crowd, I headed towards the girls toilets which were thankfully in a quieter area—considering everyone was focused on the game.

I pushed open the door and took several deep breaths, letting the silence calm me down.

But that calm didn't last long because I stepped further into the bathroom to see Fiona and Tiffany applying lipgloss in the bathroom mirror.

Here we fucking go.

I attempted to slip past them unnoticed but it didn't work. Fiona spun on her heel and made a gagging sound.

"What are you even doing at this game, Adeline? You know none of the team likes you," Fiona sneered.

"My brother is quite literally the best player on the pitch," I pointed out, "And his friends like me very much."

"They won't when you decided to accuse them of rape," Tiffany muttered, and Fiona snickered in response.

"Do you have anything else to say? Or is it just that?" I snapped, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I don't fucking like you, Adeline," Fiona scoffed, getting in my face, "Somehow you have everyone wrapped around your finger, but not me. You've ruined my boyfriend's life and I intend to ruin yours."

I tried to pretend like her words didn't affect me but they did. Everything to do with what happened affected me.

"I didn't ruin his life," Was all I could get out.
