Things have been hectic in the Demon Slayer Corp as news quickly spread of a demon's pardon by their leader. Kaoi thought things could not get any more crazy. Little did he know this Demon slayer would face a whole new set of challenges when he is s...
Hello my readers, first of all I would like to greatly apologize for the over yearlong internet silence. Especially to those who tried to reach out to me and I did not respond. I'm not very good with having a presence on the internet. I find constantly being on it tiring and so I tend to go silent.
Next will be my reasons for why I've stopped writing. Part of the reason I stopped working on my fanfic was the state of my personal life. At the time I was in the middle of my junior year and college work was getting more and more time consuming. Then came my senior year and the stress I had to graduate. Now being a recent graduate, I have been spending my time looking for a job with my degree. Thus writing fanfics became less and less of a priority in my life.
The other reason is that I've grown dissatisfied with how parts of Re:Slayer turned out and where it was going at the time. With Arc 3 and Arc 4 I just was doing the plot of Re Zero but just swapped out Subaru with Kaoi. I realized this as I looked at the outline I had where Kaoi becomes Emilia's knight. So I tried chaining the outline to something more fitting but the more times I revised the outline the more draining it became in my mind so I needed to take a break.
A break that lasted a year. Again, very sorry about that.
It was until recently that I've read this One Piece fanfic called One Piece: Monster of the Straw Hat Pirates by KP360, a retelling of the One Piece story but with the inclusion of a OC who ate the Goji Goji no Mi, a kaiju zoan devil fruit that gives him the powers of Godzilla. It's an amazing read that I highly recommend, it features other kaiju zoan oc and changes such as Arlong having Ebirah, and an original arc based on the Toho movie Atragon. It is everything I intended Re:Slayer to be.
Then recently I did some art of a redesign for Kaoi that will appear at the end of Arc 4. I was reminded of the joy I had when I first wrote Re:Slayer. Looking back, one of my favorite things I wrote was the Kaoi vs Rem fight and the aftermath. I felt that I really took the story in a different direction and I wanted to do more of that.
So going forward, there will be a revision of chapter 33. I felt that I really rushed that chapter and didn't include things I wanted to.
After that will be the second half of Arc 4. I now have a clear direction of the story and how I want Kaoi's journey to go.
Next will be the revisions and retcons of Arc 3 that I hope will make the story flow better and to make Kaoi less of a mary sue.
These retcons include:
The axing of Memory Snow as I feel as it is now. That chapter really muddles things. Some version of the event still happened but there is no chapter adapting it.
Ram subtly manipulates Kaoi into going to the royal selection.
Kaoi no longer fights Julius. He denies the duel and that was it. At the time I just wanted to have a demon slayer vs knight duel but looking back at the previous chapter I had something going on there but messed it up with contrivance. Kaoi and Emilia still fight about what happened at the royal selection.
Patrache will be replaced with an original earth dragon designed by me. I originally intended this but couldn't come up with a satisfying design as I wanted to base it on Zilla. That has changed.

Now both Kaoi and Julius fought Betelgeuse; it was not just Kaoi.
Betelgeuse does try to possess Kaoi but is eviscerated by the shadow Godzilla inside Kaoi's soul realm.
For how I go about in my writing.
I will be less concerned about how my writing affects the continuity. I was afraid of making changes that could potentially break the story and lore but I think that stunted my creativity. But to be honest I could not pick a worse story to be concerned about lore because jesus christ there is so much Re Zero lore.
As far as scheduling goes don't expect consistency from. At most I will go for 2 to 1 chapters a month.
I will focus on writing only Re:Slayer. I think I was stretching myself with also being concerned about writing What Betty Wants to Know and My Hero in Madness that I would mentally exhaust myself.
I think that is all I have to say. I hope you all are looking forward to it. If any of you have questions leave them in the comments and I will try to respond in a timely manner.
