Staring at the unconscious bodies of his maids. Although Rem had been able to get her sister out of the point of impact, both had still been caught by the radius of the blast.

Puck: So you lost your temper when she burned the book. Not like you at all. But she was prepared for even this. I think she really is a strong girl

Roswaal: ...Ram...

Ram: I love you

Roswaal: Why would you be in love with someone who doesn't even remember you?

Just as he was about to walk over to them, an ice shard hit the ground and stopped him in his tracks.

Roswaal: I suppose even after all you would still want to finish me off...

Puck: I'm not the one who did that.

Rem: S-Stay...away...

Roswaal: [gasps]

Despite looking in their direction, Roswaal had failed to notice the blue maid regaining consciousness and struggling to get up.

Roswaal: Rem!

Just as the mage was going to rush to his servant's side.

Rem: I said STAY AWAY!!!

The screaming oni makes Roswaal stop from coming over. The Margrave just has to watch as tears fall from Rem.

Rem: All of these years I've spent in your service, I felt guilt that I was taking advantage of a great man. I've felt unworthy being taken in by you after the destruction of my village and all I had to return was menial labor. But all this time... this time.. [cries] It was all a ploy! It all meant nothing! I've felt gratitude to the one who let my parent's die!

Roswaal: ...

Rem: What do you have to say for yourself!

Roswaal: I have nothing to say. It is exactly as you said... Thanks to your sister, I have lost. If you choose to avenge your parents now then I will not fight you anymore...

The blue oni cries soon turn to growls as ice shards start forming around her.

Ram: ...rem...

Rem: [gasps]

Roswaal: [gasps]

Looking at her side, Rem sees Ram as she grabs her arm with what little energy she can muster even with Concentration Breathing.

Ram: ...please Rem... don't... do...

Hearing the pleas for sparing the mage's life drove Rem to madness.

Rem: Why? Why? WHY?! Ram, after everything he has done, why does he deserve to live! Why! Why shouldn't we bring him to justice! Why do you love him!

Ram: ...please sister... if not for me... then for Miss... Emilia...

Rem: Huh?... what do you mean...

Puck: I believe I can answer that.

Rem turns her head to look at the great spirit.

Puck: As unfortunate as it is, Roswaal is the only man that is willing to sponsor Lia. If he is killed or is turned over to the knights then Lia's candidacy for the Royal Selection is revoked. As much as I want to skewer him for making her miserable, I wouldn't want her to be even more sad that she couldn't achieve her dreams.

Rem: Her dreams...

The maid's mind flashes back to when she was comforting the half-elf before she found her resolve to complete the trials. Struggling to make sense of herself. Then she remembers how she looked admirable when she completed the first and second trials. How the villagers and demi-humans looked up to her.
