The cold wind continued to seep through the window.

Xu Zhen held Xu Qianchun's hand and noticed that something was off with her. She asked, “Are you cold?”

Xu Qianchun shook her head.

Xu Zhen probed further, “Is there any pain?”

Xu Qianchun replied, “My hand.”

Xu Zhen inquired, “Does your hand hurt? Was it from the iron bars, or is there an issue with your shrinking technique?”

Xu Qianchun responded, “I don’t know.”

Xu Zhen pushed Xu Qianchun's hand inward, saying, “Then pull it back; we don’t want it to get stuck.”

Xu Qianchun remained still.

Xu Zhen kept pushing Xu Qianchun's hand further in, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t get it inside. Shocked, she quietly asked, “What’s wrong? Did your shrinking technique fail? Are you stuck?”

Xu Qianchun explained, “I don’t want to pull it back.”

Xu Zhen asked, “Why not?”

Xu Qianchun said, “I want to hold your hand.”

Xu Zhen smiled and replied, “Then let’s keep holding hands.”

She continued to cradle Xu Qianchun's hand.

Xu Qianchun's hand was warm to the touch; the makeup on her face seemed to have softened in the water, developing many creases. Xu Zhen reached out to smooth it down, trying to prevent anyone from noticing.

The water level gradually rose, the sound of rain grew louder, pounding against the walls with a tremendous clatter. The air, which had been humid, became filled with the mixed scent of water and mildew.

When the water level reached the students' chests, Xu Qianchun finally pulled her hand back and urged Xu Zhen to go out.

Xu Zhen protested, “The water is still shallow.”

Xu Qianchun insisted, “We can’t wait any longer.”

Xu Zhen asked, “Why?”

Xu Qianchun pointed out the window, “It’s leaking; the water level won’t get any higher.”

Xu Zhen looked over and realized that the window was entirely gridded, allowing airflow from outside. The place wasn’t a completely enclosed space, so the water wouldn’t fill the entire loft. At least this way, everyone wouldn’t drown inside.

She breathed a sigh of relief and said to Xu Qianchun, “I’ll wait for you a little longer.”

Xu Qianchun nodded, moving aside to begin her task. Ignoring the few students who were rummaging through the bookshelves, she drew her small sword and began chopping at the wooden boards of the cabinet, tossing the pieces to several nearby students.

Those students asked her, “What are you doing?”

Xu Qianchun glanced at them, saying, “Hold these up; don’t let them sink.”

As she spoke, she climbed onto the bookshelves. The shelves weren’t very high, and even standing on the top, she still had to tiptoe to touch the ceiling. Thanks to her impressive lightness skill, she jumped up to the wooden beams, drawing out her knife to scratch the ceiling.

The first attempt didn’t break through.

On the second try, she managed to carve out an opening. The heavy wood crashed into the water below, sending a powerful surge of water gushing down from the third floor like a waterfall.
