The weather in Chang'an was beautiful, and Xu Zhen was eager to enter the bustling city. To prepare for any situation, Xun Qianchun had brought along two disguise stickers. As the afternoon crowds swelled, they seized a discreet moment to swiftly leap over the city wall with Xu Zhen.

The wall bore the scars and holes of past battles and was devoid of guards, giving it a lonely, abandoned feel.

Standing atop the wall, Xu Zhen took a moment to absorb the vibrant life within the city. People moved about energetically, engaged in conversation and laughter, while carriages filled the busy streets. From the second floors of taverns, men and women with powdered white faces beckoned to passersby.

After taking in the scene, Xun Qianchun helped Xu Zhen down from the wall.

Xun Qianchun remained indifferent to the city's lively atmosphere, showing little interest in its charm.

Curious about other places, Xu Zhen asked, "What does the capital city of the Hu Kingdom look like?"

Xun Qianchun replied, "Teacher should go see for yourself, then you'll know."

Xu Zhen, surprised, said, "You're being mysterious now? It’ll be a while before we return, so just tell me what it’s like!"

With a slight smile, Xun Qianchun described, "It resembles Pingliang, with earth-grey walls. In summer, the riverside is lush with vegetation, but there are plenty of cattle and sheep dung, along with many mosquitoes. You probably wouldn't like it."

Xu Zhen imagined the scene and remarked, "I thought the capital city wouldn't need herding."

Xun Qianchun replied, "It does."

Curious, Xu Zhen asked, "Since you returned to the Hu Kingdom, have you restored the Xianbei tribe?"

Xun Qianchun nodded.

Xu Zhen inquired further, "How is it now?"

Xun Qianchun paused before saying, "Xianbei has no people, and keeping that land is pointless, so I turned it into pastureland."

Xu Zhen commented, "If your mother knew, she’d probably get up and scold you."

Laughing, Xun Qianchun said, "Teacher, come scold me; I’ll accept it."

Xu Zhen humored her with a light pat and then pulled out a piece of milk candy from the Hu Kingdom, handing it to Xun Qianchun.

As Xu Zhen and Xun Qianchun reached the main road, they noticed a large crowd gathered on the right, caught up in a heated debate. Xu Zhen pulled Xun Qianchun closer so they could listen.

It turned out that a young couple was having a conflict. The wife had been hit by her husband, who refused to apologize and felt he was right. They had brought their dispute to the Dali Temple.

The wife was sitting on the ground, crying and pleading her case, while the onlookers were sympathetic.

The husband shouted, “If you hadn’t done anything wrong, why would I have hit you?!”

The crowd’s mood shifted, with some muttering, “Done something wrong? That explains the beating.”

A gentleman at the entrance of the Dali Temple tried to speak, but the crowd demanded, “What exactly did she do wrong?”

The wife cried, “I just didn’t want to go to my mother-in-law’s house! How is that a mistake?!”

Her husband argued, “We agreed to be united when we married! You promised to obey me, and not listening is wrong.”

The crowd was split, with some supporting the husband and others defending the wife.

The gentleman at the Dali Temple sighed, yawning as he thought, and began to say, “Indeed, let’s decide the wife is guilty.”
