Battling in the Freezing Raid

" Of course I'm not afraid of a..... Moltrace?"

Ash raised a brow at what Goh just said. " Huh?"

Goh pointed. " There's a Moltrace."

There was indeed a Moltrace.

And behind it was a girl running with an Eevee.

" Moltrace, you have to stop!" The girl yelled. " I get that you want to see your sister, and I get you need to take her to Tracey! But you have to get out of here! Everything's gonna melt!"

The Pokemon ignored, and the girl jumped onto the ice near the water. " Molt-"

Suddenly, they heard a crack. The girl's eyes widened and she looked down.

There was a crack on the ice she was on.

" Oh no....." She muttered. " This can't be good."

The crack deepened, and then...

Crack!

The ice broke from the shore!

The girl sighed. " Of course this would happen."

Then she looked at her feet. She was sinking at an alarming rate.

" Eevee!" She yelled. " Glaceon and use ice shard, let's go!"

" Glaceon!" The pokemon said as it backflipped and shot ice at the lake just as its owner was going to fall. The girl jumped to the ice, but found it melting. 

So she jumped to another.

And another.

And another.

The girl sighed. " Great."

Then she looked at her Pokeballs and got an idea. " Eevee, you know how to use these, right?"

" Evevevevevve"!

The girl threw her pet a small bag, and the Eevee jumped through it.

" Inside that bag is my Pokemon, okay?" She called. " Take Moltrace and Articuno out of here!"

" Eveveve!"

" Don't worry about me! Go, Eve, go!"

Eevee seemed hesitant, so the girl sighed.

" I have Charmander!"

Eevee seemed more relieved. She ran to the Legendary Pokemon and said, " Eveveveve!"

The birds let out a screech.

" Evevevveve! Eevee! vee! eveveve!"

The birds nodded, and Eevee led them out.

The girl sighed. " Well that went nice."

" Not nice!" Ash yelled. " Look!"

The iceberg she was on was barely holding her.

She sighed. " Great."

Then, she jumped into the icey cold water.

Ash and the other three blinked. " Did she just..." Gary started.

" Jump into an icey lake?" Goh replied. " Yes!"

Horace gasped. " We have to do something!"

Then, bubbles appeared, and the girl shot out on the other side. She gasped and laid flat on the ground. 

" Charmander, I choose you."

She tossed the ball into the air, and Charmander came out. " Char!"

" Charmander, please-"

" CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" Charmander took a deep breath.... and used flamethrower on its trainer.

She became burnt.

" Char...."

The girl shook her head. " It's fiiiiiine."

Ash, Goh, Gary, and Horace watched in disbelief as the girl stood up, smoke still trailing from her singed clothes after Charmander's fiery enthusiasm. She wobbled a bit, but quickly steadied herself, giving Charmander a thumbs-up.

"Are you...okay?" Ash called, taking a cautious step forward.

The girl blinked, a small grin appearing on her face as she dusted off the soot. "Yeah! Nothing like a little singe to keep you warm after a dive into an icy lake." She flashed a peace sign, showing no sign of discomfort. "Charmander's just... expressive."

Goh stifled a laugh. "Expressive? That Charmander practically roasted you!"

She chuckled, shrugging. "Charmander's got firepower to spare! I'd rather get a bit charred than freeze out here, anyway."

Horace tilted his head. "But why did you go after Moltres? Aren't those birds supposed to be near impossible to approach?"

She looked at them, eyebrows raised. "Oh, you mean my two winged friends? I was, uh, trying to keep them from melting everything around here. Moltres has this habit of... lighting up places where it shouldn't. But it wants to help Articuno, so... you just gotta help them both along sometimes!"

Ash shook his head, impressed. "You know them pretty well, don't you?"

"Yeah, I've spent a lot of time with them," she replied. "Moltres and Articuno have a bit of a sibling rivalry going on. They mean well, but they don't exactly understand boundaries."

Gary grinned. "Well, I'll give you this—you've got guts. Running out onto an ice floe after Moltres and Articuno, and then surviving Charmander's flamethrower!"

The girl laughed and extended her hand. "Thanks! Name's Wisty."

Horace took her hand with a smile. "I'm Horace, and these are my friends, Goh, Gary, and Ash. You're... kind of amazing."

Ash snorted. Horace turned. " What?"

" Horace, I know you." The girl said.

Horace blinked. " Uh......"

The girl shook the soot off.

" Wisty?!"

Wisty smirked. " That's what I just said."

" That was amazing, Wist!" Ash exclaimed.

Wisty waved off the compliment. "Eh, amazing, chaotic, what's the difference? Besides," she glanced back toward the sky where Moltres and Articuno had disappeared, "I'd better go catch up with those two troublemakers before they torch or freeze something else!"

Charmander hopped back to her side, ready for action. Wisty gave him a quick scratch behind the horns. "Let's go, buddy. Round two with Moltres awaits!"

As she ran off, Ash and his friends stared after her, a mix of admiration and amusement on their faces.

"Now that," Goh said, "is what I call a Pokémon trainer."

Ash grinned. " Nah." He said. " That's what I call my sister."
