Dawn dusted off her gown as Paul awkwardly adjusted his tie. "Okay, what is actually going on here?" Dawn muttered under her breath, eyeing the group of confused friends.
Ash scratched his head. "Uh, Izzy said there was a wedding and we should dress nice, so... here we are?"
May piped up, her expression a mix of concern and excitement. "This is so romantic! Congratulations, you two!"
"Congratulations on what?!" Paul snapped. "This isn't a wedding! It's a hostage situation!"
Misty folded her arms, suppressing a laugh. "Looks like someone doesn't want to tie the knot."
"I don’t want to tie anything! I was literally dragged into this!" Paul argued, glaring at the closed door where Izzy and Leia had vanished.
Izzy’s voice suddenly boomed from a megaphone. "Alright, everyone, settle down! We’re gathered here today to celebrate the union of my Uncle Paul and Aunt Dawn. Please take your seats and let the ceremony begin!"
Leia waddled out wearing an oversized flower crown and tossing flower petals from a basket. "Yay! Weddinnnng!" she chirped, skipping around in circles.
Dawn put her hands on her hips. "Izzy, you’re ten! What makes you think you can just marry us off like this?"
Izzy opened the door again, standing with authority and holding a clipboard. "You’re welcome, Aunt Dawn. Uncle Paul obviously needs help figuring things out, and I’m just speeding things along. Now, chop chop. We don’t want to keep the guests waiting."
Paul groaned. "I’m calling Reggie. He needs to come pick you two up and—"
"No phones at weddings!" Izzy declared, snatching Paul’s phone from his pocket and tossing it onto the grass.
Dawn pinched the bridge of her nose. "Okay, look, Izzy, this has gone far enough. We’re not—"
Before she could finish, Piplup waddled over with a pillow in its flippers. Sitting atop the pillow were two toy rings. "Pip-lup!" it declared proudly, as if signaling they were past the point of no return.
Izzy clapped her hands. "Perfect! Now, Uncle Paul, do you take Aunt Dawn to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, forever and ever?"
"Absolutely not!" Paul exclaimed, throwing his arms up.
Dawn smirked slightly. "Finally, we agree on something."
Izzy narrowed her eyes. "Well, if you don’t say yes, I’ll show Mommy the other album. You know, the one with the twins."
Paul and Dawn froze. "What twins?" they demanded in unison.
Izzy waved them off. "Oh, you know, the twins who look just like Uncle Paul's great-aunt Bertha."
Paul groaned, practically tearing at his hair. "There are more albums?!"
"Plenty!" Leia chirped from the sidelines.
Misty leaned over to Brock. "This might be the weirdest wedding I’ve ever been to."
Izzy cleared her throat dramatically, ignoring everyone. "Now that we’ve got that sorted out—Aunt Dawn, Uncle Paul, you may kiss!"
Paul turned to Dawn, utterly horrified. "We’re not doing that."
Dawn crossed her arms, her cheeks flushed. "Not a chance."
Izzy let out an exasperated sigh, as if they were the ones being unreasonable. "Fine. If you won’t do it, I’ll just use the photo editor and make it happen myself!"
"PHOTO EDITOR?!" Dawn screeched.
"How does Reggie live with these kids?" Paul muttered.
Piplup slapped its head again. "Pip-lup..."
