Boom!

May yelped and dived to the bed quickly, using the blanket to shield her

Her knight in green hair was who knows where in the Pokemon center.

He was probably doing a Pokemon battle in the thunder.

Heavy steps.

Groans.

Booms.

May jumped, quickly diving into the blanket and curled up.

The door opened. " May?"

Drew stepped in and looked around as he grabbed a towel and wiped his wet body. " May? Where are you?"

He heard breathing.

Quick breathing.

He walked his way to the bed and felt the blanket. It jumped slightly, then trembled.

Drew sighed softly, then flicked his hair. " So.... Looks like the brave May isn't always brave."

May didn't reply.

" M... May?"

No reply.

Drew sat on the ground and lifted the blanket. " May?"

May was clutching to her legs, her face buried in them. Drew rubbed her shoulders and sat on the bed, next to May and rubbed her shoulders. " Come on, May. It's just sound. It's not going to hurt you."

" B.... But people can die from lightning!"

Drew looked at her, softening. “Hey, come on now… I get it, but you’re inside. The thunder can be loud and scary, but it’s not gonna hurt you in here.”

May peeked up at him, her eyes wide and still full of worry. “How can you be so sure?”

Drew chuckled, wiping a damp strand of hair from his face as he kept rubbing her shoulder gently. “Because I’d never let it. Look, I might be soaked, but I came straight here to make sure you’re okay. Nothing’s going to get you while I’m around.”

She gave a small, shaky smile, still clutching her knees. “But… what if the thunder breaks the window or something?”

Drew shook his head, the hint of a smirk on his lips. “If it tried, I’d just shoo it away. No way I’m letting thunder ruin my plans.” He raised an eyebrow at her, his usual confident grin breaking through. “Besides, I’m here with you. Together, we can handle a little noise, don’t you think?”

May nodded, feeling a bit of the tension melt away from her shoulders. Drew stretched out next to her, still rubbing her back as he kept talking, his voice low and steady. “You know, when I was little, I used to get scared of thunder too.”

May’s eyes widened in surprise. “You? Scared?”

Drew laughed. “Hey, it happens. But I figured out that if I focused on something else, it didn’t feel as bad. So here, let’s do that.” He took her hand, giving it a light squeeze. “Why don’t you tell me about one of your favorite Pokémon battles?”

She hesitated, still a little jittery, but she could see Drew’s warm green eyes watching her, his hand firm and reassuring around hers. “Okay,” she murmured, taking a deep breath. “Well… there was that one time I battled Harley and—”

Another boom rattled the windows, and she tensed, but Drew gently squeezed her hand again. “Hey, you’re doing great. Keep going.”

May exhaled slowly, gathering her thoughts, and continued. With each word, she felt a little more at ease, Drew’s steady presence anchoring her through the storm. By the time the thunder had faded, they were both lost in laughter, their fears washed away.
